Please help me. It's slowly driving me insane. I have no idea what it is, it kind of feels like a little piece of food or something. I can literally feel it whenever I move my tongue. I've tried everything to dislodge it, I've been clearing my throat nonstop trying to get it out. I've tried drinking a ton of water as well, nothing seems to effect it. I'm currently considering forcing myself to vomit to see if that will finally get rid of whatever the hell is back there.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm so sick of people talking about the ending to Mass Effect 3.

Have somebody grab a small flashlight and see what's stuck in there? Then just get it out using any method such as long pliers/tweezers or what-have-you. Just be sure not to gag. That might hurt both parties involved.

#4 Posted by TEHMAXXORZ (1199 posts) -

Just... you know... shove your fingers back there and dislodge it. You may gag, but if you are suffering as much as you say, it will be nothing.

@OllyOxenFree: I'd considered that, but I don't think I trust anyone enough to hold metal instruments in my mouth. The mere thought of them accidentally dropping tweezers or something in my throat scares the shit out of me.

@TEHMAXXORZ: I've been trying that as well, I can't seem to hit the exact spot where it's at. I'm very quickly giving myself a sore throat probing back there.

If it is white and the back top of your throat its called a tonsil stone. I used to get them. They can easily be removed with a Q tip. If you get them REAL bad a doctor will have to go in and remove the little pouches where they form.

I hate when I get a single hair or grass blade stuck in the back of my throat, I sit there gagging like a idiot for 5 mins trying to get it out. I hate my gag reflex, it's super sensitive. When I clean my tongue I have to be super careful not to brush back to far, or... ELSE.

#11 Posted by WalkerD (462 posts) -

@The_Laughing_Man: @Marz: Tonsil stones form more near the Uvula right? This is closer to the base of my tongue. It's a real pain because I can't pinpoint it's exact location. Looking around in there with a flashlight hasn't yielded any results either. Guess I'll need a spotter to get a better look.

This sounds like a terrible idea. I've got to very strongly advise against this.

Go to a doctor.

it's probably psychosomatic. you're probably just going insane. and you'll feel that nagging feeling in the back of your tongue for the rest of your days

@Zleunamme: and spend money? I don't think so.

@stonepawfox: This keeps popping up in my head. But I just KNOW it's back there. It feels like a hair or something.

If it's biological, it'll probably rot away eventually. Hooray.

If it's non-biological, then stop eating gravel. Really, STOP DOING THAT. It's weird.

Jesus Christ, reading up on this is frightening. I've seen several people now advising others to stick metal instruments in their mouths, such as paperclips or tweezers. How are people this comfortable digging around in their throats? Furthermore how are they still alive?

Get a glass of warm water and add some salt to it, then gargle the water hard and deep; Let it flush right down into the back of your throat as you gargle.

This could get your gag reflex going, so be near the sink or toilet when you do it just in case. It's worked every time I've had a tonsil stone.

#23 Posted by N7 (3595 posts) -

It's probably pharyngitis. I had that same feeling for a while too, like something was stuck in my throat. Then, my throat turned into a flaming pit of burning shit and I couldn't talk or eat anything that wasn't icecream. It made my life a living hell for about three weeks.

#24 Posted by Galiant (2193 posts) -

@WalkerD: It'll pass. If not, go see a doctor. Don't do anything stupid, like shoving things down your throat.

1. Grab a bottle of whiskey
2. Down bottle of whiskey
3. Prepare to puke
4. Problem solved

Disclaimer: Amount of whiskey needed my vary

Are there easier ways to do this? Sure, but are there more fun ways to do this? Hell no!

If this doesn't work you should like see a doctor so he can just look back there

LUNG BUTTER.

When you get it out, make sure to squish it between your fingers. Then give that a little sniff

Cough it up. Might be mucous. Gagging is not going to do any good as it only tighten the muscles in your stomach. Go out and buy some Mucinex

sometimes they aren't visible, they grow in little pouches in your tonsils, if flexing your throat doesn't work to loosen it you gotta apply pressure to the tonsil and squeeze it out like pimple, instead of pus coming out you get these little hard smelly things. If you don't have tonsils... well... it's probably something else.

Go see a doctor.

Oh god I have a really big blade of grass stuck in the back of my throat now! Somebody give me advice on how to get it out!

#42 Posted by BigChickenDinner (766 posts) -

@SpaceRunaway: I somehow manage to get grass stuck in my mouth when I grapple... sometimes.

#43 Posted by WalkerD (462 posts) -

Welp, after learning the in's an out's of the inside of my mouth, I'm pretty sure it was a tonsil stone. I managed to dislodge some sort of tiny yellowish white rectangle from that general area and aside from the pain from digging around in my throat for hours I feel much better. Thanks for the help broskis.

Please don't put any metal objects down your throat, this thread has me worried for your safety.

It's probably a hair or something.

edt: Grass talk had me loling.
