Japan and consoles

With these recent articles about consoles in japan should this be worrying about the success of ps4 in the long run even over here. I would hate the industry to turn into f2p and mobile

For as important as Japan has been to the development side of the industry pretty much since its inception, the fact is it isn't anywhere near the most important consumer market in the industry. Japan's population of like 125 mil is by no means irrelevant, but the US and Europe are far more important regions for sales.

What's the situation in Japan? Are people transitioning to mobile or are they just dropping gaming altogether?

Upside down demographics, preminence of mobile games, lack of console titles that appeal to the market due to rising development costs; take your pick. It's not the market it once was.

Forget about worrying about Japan. There is a lot of flight to mobile and indie on the NA side of the industry.
