So last night when looking Jeff's old Points Reports I realised how shit the Gamespot player is. Being a good chap, I thought I'd re-upload them on to Youtube for a better player and so that they're easier to find, rather than being buried in his blog. Here they all are!

That first video looks and sounds like he's surviving underground in a post apocalypse and we're eventually going to see his descent into madness.

#3 Posted by JD183 (39 posts) -

The quality gets better as he goes along!

Oh god, it's just like Jar Time, but everything looks crazy, and Jeff looks and sounds different.

Do people still obsess about achievements? They seems pointless and mean absolutely nothing, stopped caring. Realised obsessing about getting all the collectables for an achievement was spoiling my enjoyment of some games.

Love that Jeff played FIFA World Cup, find that rather amusing.

The originator to Jar Time, used to love these even way before I had a 360.

Wow you are a God among men sir. I have no interest watching Points again other than a few bits of nostalgia, but I always 100% support chronicling and archiving!

The precursor to Jar Time.

I kinda do, but it's not a competitive thing. I just like to get them because it makes sure I see all the content that I want to.

But yeah, there are still people who are insanely into achievements and will do anything for that full 1000.

Achievements a.k.a. the other gimmick from this cycle that quickly lost its appeal.

While watching the first video -- I couldn't believe how much Jeff talked and kind of even had the mannerisms of Greg Kasavin. Even his facial expressions were kind of blank and downy like Greg's. I don't know. Maybe I am horribly wrong, but I couldn't stop thinking that this was actually Greg talking in a Jeff costume.

@FoliorumViridum: So how does Youtube work? You didn't have anything to do with creating these videos, you only downloaded them and re-uploaded them. Yet when I watch them, there are ads. Is this just something YouTube does for revenue, or are you getting a taste?

#14 Posted by Ramone (2972 posts) -

Has he got the fucking knife show on in the background of the first episode? Classic Jeff.

#15 Posted by NoobSauceG7 (1250 posts) -

Thanks dude! I have been watching them recently and love them.

Oh gosh! I remember these. Thanks for archiving them.

Which one is it where Carrie comes in and it's super adorable?

#19 Posted by astrotriforce (1326 posts) -

Wow awesome dude. I'm an old timer with a GameSpot account that goes back to 2002, so I remember ye old days fondly. I'll probably watch every single one of these. Thanks for the upload!

#20 Posted by astrotriforce (1326 posts) -

You know, there's a part of me that still REALLY wants to play all these old crappy games and get Achievements for them before Microsoft makes it impossible... maybe I'll use Jeff's list from these videos as a sort of "Master List" and chronicle my experience.... I see a new website feature for my site coming on!

I miss Carrie. Game websites need more women who actually give a crap about games not to mention their own self respect, not using nerds as a launching point for a role on The Newsroom.

Somebody pointed out I made a mistake with two episodes, that's now been fixed :) Thanks to whoever it was that PM'd me on YT about it.

Absolute fucking hero

#30 Posted by haroon90 (4 posts) -

wow i remember watching some of these videos,i'm glad i don't care for achievements anymore though,i would actually get upset and sick before when playing games just for the sake of getting points, there is a very dark side to achievements that needs to be acknowledged!

But i think that system has died down now,it use to be really cool and interesting when the 360 first came out and everyone was comparing each others gamerscore with each other, but as the years have gone on and people have 100,000's of points i think it's lost it's edge and just isn't as compelling or interesting as it first was,but i guess u can say that for alot of other stuff too.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but does anyone know if any of these videos ar archived anywhere? All of these seem to be gone off of youtube and I can only find two posted on Vimeo. Would be sad if these were lost.

#32 Posted by jimmyfenix (3855 posts) -

Yes it would be great if someone can re-upload these.

#33 Posted by Hailinel (24977 posts) -

The only appeal I see in these videos is recalling how stupidly obsessed people can be about achievement points, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.

"This video is unavailable" :(

#35 Posted by Jeff (3583 posts) -

I'm guessing the guy took them all down after he got banned or something. Damn, does anyone have these? There was one in particular that I was looking for a few months ago, but all of those videos got blown away in some long-ago GameSpot hard drive crash and no one I know has them.

Poop, I'm late to the party. All the videos have been pulled. Is there any other place where I can happen to find these?

Lol, this post is over a year old.

why can't we just, like, archive the entire internet at giant boomb doot coomb? :(

Points mean prizes.

@jeff: Oooh, I reckon I might have all of these stashed in a digital locker somewhere, will check when I'm back home today.

UPDATE

I found these two videos on "your" Vimeo account, @jeff.

@fattony12000: These are post gamespot era, though. Surely someone has the older ones on a drive somewhere...

Found another one! This time from 2007!

As I said, I'll do my best to dig them up from my digital locker, it's pretty dusty in there though!
