Jerks on online games

How do you guys handle jerks on XBL, PSN, PC, etc? I was playing Street Fighter 2 HD Remix online and playing this guy in player match and he absolutely dominated me. He called me a cocksucker, a dumbass, etc. I obviously picked player match to practice and try to get better, not for stupid comments. Are all hardcore street fighter fans like this?

Sometimes I mute them, but other times I'll let them ramble on so their stupidity grows and I laugh.

Well, in my friends Left 4 Dead server, when someone comes on and decides to be a jerk, he gets a one way ticket to the kick/ban hammer, otherwise there is not much you can do about jerks, besides leave.

Ahem. Sorry. I don't know what came over me. Yeah, I've cleverly avoided this problem lately by not wearing a headset. I used to play alot of soul calibur 4, and theres nothing like getting trash talked by very young japaneese children...

Just ignore them or talk some trash back at them. The bad trash talkers are usually little whiners anyway.

Most of the time, I don't feel like arguing with them (since 99 percent of the time they're fucking retarded), so I will either just ignore what they are saying, or actually block them. I barely even use my headset anymore, just for that purpose.

Eh I usually just ignore most people like that, there are far too many assholes on the internet to even bother. I'm too fucking lazy to find the energy to argue.

Mute button is an amazing thing.

Also, I usually don't use a headset unless I'm playing with my friends.

Just take off the headset. You don't have to one-up anyone, or put up with their shit.

I haven't dealt with those kind of people. Not since I played Halo, and I really didn't use the headset too much.

I mute everyone I play with, before doing anything.  Unless they are friends.

Basically, if I don't know you.  I don't want to.

You can filter that out by only going into matches that has headsets turned off. Id still say FPS games are worse since it only takes 1 or 2 jerks out of 20 to have that same experience. But, its a simple fact of life when it comes to online gaming.

I hate the jerks on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue! They just run you out of the track or turn with your car being their support. No sportsmanship or decency to play. Can't drive for shit.

I've been pretty lucky over the last few months and I've not had any idiots online, it's only recently I have decided to not re-new my Live subscription, I've been playing a lot of Resistance 2 online on the PS3, which is free, and seeing as how I don't have a MIC for the PS3, I've not had one problem yet with anyone on the PSN.......so far.

I prefer not to play online. But i might change my mind eventually....

To be honest I haven't really met that many jackasses online. The only thing I can remember at the moment is playing Left 4 Dead, My health was around 10% and one of our teammates left and a new guy came in that sounded really young and shot me to death. We quickly kicked him though SO JUSTICE IS SERVED BITCH.... sorta.

If they get REALLY annoying then I mute them but I can usually handle quite a lot of annoyingness.

If you go in to an online game realizing the general stupidity of most people, you will not be left upset.

Lol, in the demo of Battlefield Bad Company, I made a separate account called "FriendlyFire" and just ran around killing team members only at crucial moments. It was great fun. But yeah I was being a complete cock though.
