So I just traded in some games and got this pile for fairly cheap. Just want your guys opinions on the quality of aforementioned titles and which I should dive into first while I finish off installing them all.

I forgot lost odyssey was 4 discs...

I know some people who absolutely love Alpha Protocol, but I just didn't have the patience for the (pardon the term) jankiness of it. Great writing, though. I can't speak for the other games.

#4 Posted by BeachThunder (8835 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Personally, I thought Alpha Protocol was pretty swell.

#5 Posted by TobbRobb (3300 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

I'd say Alpha Protocol. That and Lost Odyssey are the only ones I care about, and if you've already played most of LO, might as well get something new.

#6 Posted by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Well I played LO when it came out, so it's been a while. I did everything but the last boss and I remember liking it a lot.

Go with either exept armored core I'd say.

#8 Posted by believer258 (7820 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Alpha Protocol would be the one that I would play first.

I have knights contract too. I'm a sucker for a certain type of game(even when I know the game itself is bad, poor or mediocre). Not to really say you should go for it first, but play it on easy, apparently, when you do. I only touched the beginning of it once.

#10 Posted by TobbRobb (3300 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Canteu: I'd still argue for going with something completely new, especially since AP is shorter. But I like Lost Odyssey a lot, so go for it if you want to.

Damn it, Infinite Undiscovery won't install. Back to the store I go!

I'll never understand how people can get even a single scratch on a disk, let alone render it unreadable. Fucking peasants.

#12 Posted by Video_Game_King (29205 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Lost Odyssey, because I've actually played it.

#13 Posted by LevelUpAdrian (127 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Go with anything except for Armored Core.
Because FUCK Armored Core.
My money's on Lost Odyssey.

#14 Edited by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@LevelUpAdrian: I like AC :( In fact V is the only one I've not played.

@Canteu: without a doubt, go for Alpha Protocol - just remember to play it more like an RPG game.

#17 Edited by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@JCTango: I see the word "Obsidian" on the box. This makes me fully intend to go charisma and sneaking or some such nonsense.

This! Try Alpha Protocol.
#20 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5410 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

The only one I have any experience with is Alpha Protocol, and I think that game is shit.

So I'm basically no help here. ;3

#21 Posted by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@EricSmith: Eternal sonata and Enchanted Arms are both pretty good in terms of combat systems. You just have to get past the first 3 hours of Enchanted Arms though. Maybe mute it too.

#22 Posted by Ghost_Cat (1018 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Well Armor Core V has mechs, and mechs are like over-sized can openers of WHOOP ASS. Go pilot a mech.

#23 Posted by EvilKatarn (457 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Beat as many missions in ACV as you can without getting frustrated and then move on to Alpha Protocol I guess.

#24 Posted by gla55jAw (2650 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Alpha protocol then Lost Odyssey.

#25 Posted by MikkaQ (9704 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Well Alpha Protocol is the one game there that isn't terrible, so I'd go for that one.

That is exactly what you should do.

Finish Lost Odyssey first, that way you'll have one whole game less on your list of shame!

#29 Posted by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Fattony12000: That's the main reason I bought it to be honest. I've beat all of it (including the arena boss) and my save was right in front of the last area door on the world map. I guess I can just mainline it this time since I've already seen it all.

I don't have the save anymore sadly.

@EricSmith:

Eat Lead is a terrible game that's fun.

Knight's Contract is an okay game with probably one of the worst sections in a video game ever, especailly on higher difficulties.

#31 Edited by charlie_victor_bravo (638 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Alpha Protocol. Just stick with it for a while. It takes some time ti get to the good stuff.

#32 Edited by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Yadilie: What does the "worst section in videogames" entail? This intrigues me, as this game is not all of sonic '06, so I kinda don't believe you.

@charlie_victor_bravo: I'm used to slogging through early sections of games to get to the good parts. 20 years of conditioning I suppose.

If they give you another copy, give it a chance. The story is painfully bad for the first half (maybe more), and only gets tolerable after that, but it had great dungeons and a decent combat system.

#34 Edited by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@SlashDance: I've already played it before and really enjoyed it. They've got another copy coming from another store in a few days.

I really liked the combat system, the characters aren't too bad and I enjoyed the bonus objectives on some missions, kind of a nice idea for an extra challenge if you want it.

#35 Posted by Yadilie (203 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Canteu:

This isn't in the vein of just poorly made game with shitty programming it's just poorly thought out game mechanics. But without spoiling anything really, it's just you use the witch to kill things and the knight to weaken them. At one point it's just the Knight for a little bit and on the highest difficulty it takes fucking FOREVER to kill things. And you can't go forward until you kill things. But the Knight can't die. So it's just this long game of hacking and slashing and repeatedly ressurecting yourself.

Also those super fast QTEs in boss fight on highest difficulty. Ugh... uuuuuugh... that fucking final boss that I had to refight like 50 times because of that.

#36 Posted by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Yadilie: That all sounds pretty hilarious. I have to play it on hard when I do because of you. You're a bad person and should feel bad!

#37 Posted by Yadilie (203 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Canteu:

I know I'm a bad person. I platinumed the game after all. Sadly on a friends jailbroken PS3. Sooooo, somewhere down the line I'm going to have to rebuy the game. The game really isn't that bad and gets a lot of shit for no reason, in my opinion. And people who call it an escort game are just delirious and don't understand shit about the witch. It's like they played up until they met her and just quit, aka first 30 minutes.

#38 Posted by thebipsnbeeps (479 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

I say Knights Contract because you have no idea what it is. I don't know either, but I'd try that game first to see if it's anything worth going on.

#39 Posted by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Well that's 8 out of 9 disks installed. To Alpha Protocol!

Thanks for the input people.

Ah, that's a big problem with my plan then!

#41 Posted by Canteu (2190 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Fattony12000: To be fair, it would be a 5 year old save that I kept across 5 different 360's.

Although I do still have my ME1 save...but at least there's a reason for that one.

#44 Posted by EarlessShrimp (1124 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

@Canteu: What can I say? I'm a sadist! Actually when I saw AC5 on there, I realized I've been wanting to play that. I'm gonna really go with that and probably pick it up myself today.

I can't stand AC.

I thought ACV was a lot of fun. Also really love Alpha Protocol and Lost Odyssey is not bad. Good haul!

#47 Posted by Roger778 (798 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

Alpha Protocol, I've played that game maybe 3 or 4 times, and it's a great game. Just focus on the skills you want to learn and you will be okay. The Chain shot ability when you focus on Pistols is overpowered but awesome to use.

#48 Posted by Rebel_Scum (353 posts) - 3 months, 16 days ago

I haven't heard of any of these games. My advice would be to keep shopping. ;)

Lost Odyssey is great. Those memories that you pick up and get stories for are AMAZING.

Alpha Protocol. Seriously underrated game.
