I find Coin Rush in New Super Mario Bros 2 addictive, but only because I've been getting Streetpasses for it. Kid Icarus is pretty sweet if you're right handed. If you're a Final Fantasy fan Theatrythym is surprisingly awesome too.

3D Land is indeed kick ass as well, and Kingdom Hearts was good too if you like the series.

Rhythm Thief is surprisingly good and only 30 bucks in the US.

Theatrhythm is fantastic if you like the style of music (either the modern orchestrated songs or going back to 16 bit music). So far it is almost certainly going to go in my top 5 games of the year.

Star Fox is fun but not full price fun. I suggest, if you can still find a copy, Dead or Alive Dimensions. Probably the best portable fighter I've ever owned. Load times are fast and it looks incredible. Oh yeah and the fighting is fun as well :P

Super Mario 3D Land is a good Mario Game.

Theatrhythm is a pretty badass rhythm game, a big plus if you like Final Fantasy music.

Kid Icarus is a weird, crazy animay game. It can very be cool, though the controls are kind of fcuk'd. You'll eventually get used to them, but I was personally never entirely comfortable with them.

Also just noticed Kid Icarus is the Best Buy deal of the day for 15 bucks. (9/4)

I own:

  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • New Super Mario Bros 2
  • Mario Kart 7
  • The Legend of Zelda :OoT
  • Starfox 64
  • Resident Evil Revelations

It is kind of like what Jeff has said about NSMB2, I didn't find these to be of any fun but I waiting for Castlevania: Mirror of Fate to change my opinion. So far it is just my street passing machine that has VVVVVV and Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Super Mario 3D Land and Pullbox are the best games on the 3DS.

Check out the eshop, it has a small but decent selection of games. The 3D classics are pretty cool, i've been playing Mighty Swtch Force and even though it's kinda short it's fun and challenging. There's Pushmo of course and some virtual console games that are mostly game boy games and a few SNES or NES games.

I just picked one up as well, along with Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D land, and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy (Best Buy has a buy 2 get 1 free deal) and Kid Icarus: Uprising (Best Buy deal of the day for $15).

I wish I picked up New Super Mario Bros 2 instead of Mario Kart 7. I've never been a fan of the Mario Kart series, and only really picked it up because I thought it would be a good use of 3D (which it is at least)

I got the 3DS XL last week and it is the first nintendo handheld I've owned since the gameboy advanced. I have two 1 hour twenty train rides (to and from work) everyday and it's really helping to pass the time. So far I have: Ocarina of time Star fox Resident evil revelations Metal gear solid Super street fighter 4.

Kid Icarus is probably the best 3DS game I've played.

What's the verdict on the 3DS in terms of playing plain DS games? I have about $85 in BB rewards certs, and I've been considering getting a new handheld for some time. And I've never owned ANY version of the DS, so that would open up a LOT of games. :)

Is there a killer app for the 3DS? What if any game really showcases the 3D capability to its fullest, and provides for a 3DS unique experience? Maybe something that has some depth?

Pushmo (Pullblox in Europe) is awesome and really cheap to download. Best retail game I've played is Resident Evil Revelations. Old school vibe with new controls. Better than 5 and everything I wanted 6 to be. Doesn't look like it will be though.
