Live, Actual Radio Would Improve My Immersion in Driving Games - General Discussion

Any actual radio station's stream being included in-game would be awesome. I have a computer with speakers nearby but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be a cool feature.

However, there's probably a patent for it or something. And maybe MS/Sony doesn't want the real world seeping into their game in that way. Or maybe licensing costs would be really weird. I think talk radio would have less of those licensing issues but would also probably be less interesting to most gamers.

That would be really neat, but I would go insane if I had to hear Fun, Of Monsters and Men, or Mumford and Sons every time I got into a vehicle. Rockstar has been good at putting together their own soundtracks with music that's not awful, so I hope they continue that trend.

Ya they really should do this. Especially since most radio stations now have an internet stream. They could make a deal with I Heart Radio or something. At the very least they could get a Pandora or something.

This post typifies the problem with doing this, you'd need multiple licensed stations for people with differing tastes, and the more you have the more you pay. So all in all, Rockstar are probably doing the right thing.
