Let's have a quick round of applause for whoever at LucasArts planned this week's first release of the company's classic titles on Steam. As announced on Monday, the service is now host to adventure favorites like LOOM, The Dig, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, along with some Star Wars titles ranging from excellent (Republic Commando) to passable (Battlefront II) to best ignored (Starfighter).
Great news. And if the modern-day availability of LucasArts' vaunted back catalog weren't enough, the pricing for all these games is right on the nose, especially $5 for each of the adventures. Kudos to Lucas for recognizing the sweet spot for this sort of content and not overpricing games that are lovingly remembered but also, let's face it, old. G4's Patrick "extremer" Klepek put together a comprehensive guide to the games currently available, if you want to know more. Look at these deals!
As discussed on this week's Bombcast, I'd really like to think these releases might be a prelude to new versions of some of these classic franchises. I'm not getting my hopes up yet, but then, the recent reappearance of Monkey Island puts some wind into those hopeful sails.
Now that LucasArts is all up in Steam, which of their games do you most want to see hit the service next?
