This sounds amazing, can someone explain how this will work?

MOD EDIT: That's right, jon! It looks like subscribers will be watching Giant Bomb staff play SNES games at 11:30 AM west/best coast time, or 2:30 PM east/beast coast time! Alternatively, just click here for your local time if none of that makes sense to you.

As Zabant said in a similar thread I cruelly closed:

LETS GET THIS PARTY STARTED.

Anyone else signed up just because of this?

Enjoy yourselves! Get excited! -PsEG

I'm assuming it will be us watching them play some SNES games.

Yeah they've done stuff like this before.

Remarkably, I even have tomorrow off!

Ah, I hate it how it is sometimes there and other times not. Right now I'm only seeing that wunderkind story.

So... day and time?

Details, please! My excitement can only take so much.

The "Coming Up on Giant Bomb" box only appears when there is a video there. Click through to the the story and when you go back to the homepage it will have cycled onto the next piece of content, which will probably be a video and box will be there.

New ones?  There's nothing coming out!

What do you think the chances are that this'll be archived? I won't be able to watch it when it's live, but I'd definitely like to watch it eventually.

#20 Edited by delorean99947 (228 posts) -

@tsiro: They said on TNT that they are still thinking about it. I got a paid account right after TNT cause I can't miss this.

EDIT: Whiskey Media Happy Hour feels short and not very good for my taste. This is right up my alley. Them playing games. This is what I would pay for.

Whoo for Fridays off =D.

@delorean99947: Ah, thanks. Well, I guess all I can do now is hope.

#23 Posted by tourgen (4473 posts) -

I'm looking forward to this so much!  Just about the time I could get a SNES I kinda went into a gaming blackout due to life, work, whatever.  I missed a lot of the cool SNES-era games.  I'm really looking forward to taking a look at some of those games and hearing what the crew has to say about them and how they remember them.

#24 Posted by cheddartyme (133 posts) -

I'm really looking forward to this. I start school on monday so this is a great way to end the summer. What games do you think they'll play? I hope they play actual good games instead of funny bad ones like in the winter. I'm hoping for street fighter 2, some earthbound, and some mario world. should be fun.

Meh.  GamesRadar is doing a 24 hour marathon for all sorts of consoles.

Pretty funny how it took them an entire year to think up new content for Paid Members. Even then, they did this for free less than a year ago.

Yeah but they have a fancy scan converter to show for it now.

SNES games in 720p bitches!

#28 Posted by Deathshroud (358 posts) -

I really hope they archive it . i have to miss all the live content because of work sadly :( . I am really looking forward to this if they do .... maybe I can tune in on my phone while I work ..but that might get me into trouble or fired and i really cannot afford that . Its bad enough that I cannot even afford to purchase games lol. Even had to sell all my games while I was unemployed . I have been itching to play E.Y.E after watching that video and have to hold myself back from spending the money on it and other games. So I have to live vicariously though others and watch videos and dream about being able to play a game again.

I don't think I've ever seen a comment from you where you aren't either bitching about something or making some kind of idiotic comment.

I don't even know what that comment is suppose to mean. What's wrong with the current content for subscribers?

They have a feature... called FAP.

Ugh.
#34 Posted by Rockdalf (1275 posts) -
@EveretteScott: Yeah, videos of people playing games.  Giant Bomb has the patent on that one.

Can't watch GB play SNES games tomorrow?  How's about blowing the dust off your SNES and playing it tomorrow instead.  I'd rather play those games than sit on the couch watching someone else play them.
#35 Edited by EveretteScott (1459 posts) -
@Rockdalf: That wasn't my point. I've been a frequenter of GamesRadar for a long time as well as Giant Bomb. So I know which came first out of 'videos of people playing games' with these two sites. My point was to what I quoted anyway that they're both doing the same things, I wasn't saying Giant Bomb 'is the first and only site to do that'.

If they unintentionally named it that way, that's embarrassing. If they intentionally named it that way, that's embarrassing and pathetic.

And SNES party wooooooo!

Yeah, it stands for 'Full Access Playthrough' but you know the Fap came first then they decided what it stood for. They go back and forth posting it under FAP and Full Access Playthrough though.

Is this what my life has become? Getting excited to watch other people play games and drink when I could probably be rounding up a few of my own to do the same?

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea... but goddamn it to hell, it depresses me.

I understand what you were getting at, you implied that the feature was a rip-off of Giant Bomb's quick look.  I was simply saying I don't think recording yourself while playing a game is that novel of an idea.  I mean, it's technically just a bastardized Let's Play which have been cropping up for some time now.  If you don't like the content another site offers, fine, don't go there.  But implying any footage of someone playing thirty minutes of a game with commentating is a rip off, is similar to saying any sport in which you use balls to score points is a rip off.

Well, as you get older it becomes more and more difficult to find people that you share similar interests with. I, for example, know of almost no other graduate students who are interested in video games. And it's difficult to be friends with undergraduates who enjoy playing games. So I am looking forward to watching the SNES stream and geeking out in chat with other people.

It's green. Why? WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM.
