This should be interesting. I don't mind Pachter. And really, how many copies do you think will sell for PC? There are something like 20mm XBOX consoles, the first Mass Effect sold less than 2mm copies and Modern Warfare 2 sold something like 175,000 copies on PC. I love PC gaming as much as the next guy, but we have to be realistic about what significance PC gaming holds for most developers these days. Those who do still develop for the PC as well tend to spend a disproportionate about of money doing so for the amount of returns they get, compared to the console. It's sad, but it's true. If ME2 does 200,000 for PC - that would actually be impressive.
I like Pachter, he knows more about the industry than any people on a video game message board will. Sure he makes a blip with a bad guess here and there, most of the time though he tends to get it right or close enough.
GT needs to put him back in a suit, and take away that dumb intro/outro script. I'm all for hearing what he has to say, whether I agree with it or not, but this is just silly.
I thought, "Oh, heaven help me!" when I saw the handy-cam work, but everything was alright when MP started soothing me with statistics. I much prefer the 'Bonus Round' format.

I don't get all the Pachter hate. He's an analyst. Only slightly different from the typical videogame journalist or commentator in terms of hyperbole and guesswork. Is he always right? No. But obviously he remains employed by his firm. He seems to be the Dvorak of gaming. There are analysts for investment firms for every industry and he's not much different than those for the other industries. No reason for the venom. I'll be watching his show. Why the hell not. *shrug*

I don't exactly recall his comment about that, but I seem to recall it being in the frame of "the PS3 is more powerful than the gaming rig of the average PC gamer". I think that's a rather reasonable statement to make, if maybe still slightly exaggerated.

My only comment after viewing the video is that I hope GameTrailers backs the fuck off. They're clearly telling him what to say and trying to make him edgy and hip. Let the man do his thing and be himself. Don't try and make him seem like a douche by stuffing lines like "I'm the pach" into his mouth. God damn... overproducing morons. These are the type of people that ruin good things by over-managing the talent.
Can anybody tell me why there were green dollar signs floating around everywhere? Sure, Pachter's an analyst... but since when did being an analyst of video games become synonymous with bank? Anyway, I like Pachter. He's an honest guy. People have a chip on their shoulder just because he gets paid to talk about games. Who cares how much he gets paid and what he does. He's just as credible than most of the message board kids, if not more (slightly more). It's nice that he's found an avenue with which he can make some cash while doing very little and getting to play some games. I agree with @Branthog, though. Let the Pach be!
Gametrailers/Pachter knowledge of PC gaming is like MTV to the music industry laughable marketing witth no talent and for the zinger MTV owns gametrailers.
Now all the other people stuck in a bubble have someone willing to tell them what they want to hear. Great. I can watch Bonus Round without worrying about that bullshit now.
