While this community seems to be a very mature and less rowdy than other sites, being a moderator with so many users will prove to be a difficult task simply based on the sheer number of users.

Don't get your hopes up by asking. I lot of people would like to be a mod but they all can't be. With great power comes great responsibility. Great quote. It's true and the right people will be chosen. I have faith in the GB staff.

I think you're giving the community a little too much credit there, but I still agree with your statement.

Exactly. People with the best interest in the community will be bestowed the position. People who ask will not. We need people who can hold their temper when they see a post they don't like that isn't , against the rules I guess you could say.

I don't think there was an announcement exactly but thanks anyway. As for other mods i'm not totally sure as i only recognise the ones you've mentioned. I have however asked for a list of names so a sticky can be made to let everyone know incase we're needed. So hopefully when i get the list i'll make the sticky for you all. And as for other mods i have a feeling more users will be offered the position as time goes on this week and in the future, but don't get your hopes up just incase i'm wrong.

My hopes aren't high. I just want the best people for the job. It looks like they have chosen right so far. THis week will be interesting. And it will be helpful to have a list of current moderators in case we need to contact one. So nice idea. It can be updated each time someone is appointed.

Totally agree, now and then I need to contact a moderator; sometimes things get a little grim.
Nothing good can come from people wanting that much power..., but then again you want to be A mod (keyword here being "a") or you want to moderated... "

It's good to have in your nature the want to help people. While not everyone with that quality on here will become a mod, we need you guys around. It's definitely a great benefit to have.

Indeed as i've stated already that the more the community and users can get along, contribute and generally be cool to one another the easier it is for not only us Mods but everyone in general. The last thing we want is for people to start threads with "the mods suck!" because then we have to ask ourselves, where or what part of it all went wrong?
"With great power comes great responsibility" really is a fitting line for the moderators. It could be the compulsive lurker in me ( a trait I hope to remedy on the Giant Bomb forums) speaking, but I think of them as low-level comic book heroes: Sure it seems like it'd be fun, but it's really seems like a lot of dirty, thankless work. A lot of people want to be Spider-Man. I'd rather be the dude who sits on the sideline and doesn't get the snot kicked out of him by whoever threatening the city this time.
I'll just come out and say this :) It sounds as if we have real genuine people as moderators - I've never been able to handle dealing with really blunt and amazingly frustrating individuals - thankfully this isn't the case here! (And no - this isn't about butt kissing, I give credit where credit is due)

I usually am up descently late at night but have to go to bed early tonight. I have an appointment early in the morning tomorrow and I have to work-out. Wonder when the next mods will be named. We have 4 so far.
