I'm going to go against the popular opinion and say Valve and Blizzard.
However Blizzard is sinking, with this Bnet 2.0 and Activision Mess. But they aren't lost yet, we'll see how things turn out.
Also, Bioware is an amazing developer that makes amazing games, but unlike valve or blizzard I don't feel like they've done anything worthy of making them a company I have tons of respect for. And that's not many as anything bad for them, it's just if I'm listing companies I really really respect, Blizzard and Valve are the only ones who earn it, despite how good Biowares games are.
Most respected Game Developer in the Biz......
I would have to give it to Valve. Time and time again they have shown that they aim to please the fans even over making a bigger profit. Probably because they know that doing this still gives them great profits anyways.
The correct answer is Valve, except for that "Can't hit a date" thing. 10 years ago Rare would've been an acceptable answer I think, but it's been a long time since that's been true.
I have also a fond love fumito ueda and his team, i literally count shadow of the colossus as the most inspired/beautiful and dramatic game to ever grace my two eyes
" @TheMasterDS said:By Microsoft, yes." The correct answer is Valve, except for that "Can't hit a date" thing. 10 years ago Rare would've been an acceptable answer I think, but it's been a long time since that's been true. "What ever happened to Rare? Were they bought out? "
And also Valve and Naughty Dog.
I think the great individuals are far more respected than even the greatest studios. You'll always find somebody prepared to talk smack about Nintendo or Blizzard or whoever, but very few people show disrespect towards people like Miyamoto, Will Wright, Sid Meier etc. The guys that virtually built the industry from scratch.
My 'most respected' studio right now is CD Projekt Red, just because of the ambition they have shown, the debut game they put out, the way they supported that title after launch and looked after their existing customers. And it paid off too; selling a million copies of a relatively unknown PC exclusive nowadays - almost entirely by word of mouth - is no mean feat. It was just refreshing to see a game company conducting themselves like that in this era.
Objectively, I think it's probably still Nintendo. Their name is still synonymous with 'gaming' for a whole lot of people out there and the brand carries a lot of weight, even with the mainstream audience.

Remedy, Rockstar and things with Cliff Bleszinski's name currently have my respect above everything else.
Naughty Dog and Bungie, simply for the fact that both developers transcended petty console fanboyism that us consumers believe in and helped each other in some nondescript way that caused Naughty Dog put in a "Special Thanks" mention to Bungie in the end credits of Uncharted 2.
Team ICO is an easy contender Only 2 released games? Sure. But they have delivered games like we've never seen before and after their release. When people think Team ICO, they know to expect something great.
Blizzard. They only release games that meet their standards. That in turn leads to them releasing games once every century. However, the fans still get excited. There's no doubt or questions about their games...well, except for "When are they coming out?"
Valve. They, in a sense, defined the optimal relationship between developer and community. Add that to their amazing lineup of software and you have something even greater.
I used to think Blizzard, then they merged with Activision and catered to the fools.
Honestly i really would give it to either Bioware or Valve.
Treyarch. What, no?
Seriously, in the West it's a tie between Valve and Blizzard and the the east, um, Level 5 maybe? Me, personally, I'm a Bioware fan-boy, but I don't think they have as rabid a fan base as Blizz and Valve.
