@LikeaSsur: Haha, it was out there! Glad you got it :) People of the Internet, Just. Buy. NIER.

Braid was most definitly awesome! Yet to play Journey.. in the backlog, it's only a few hours right?

Uncharted 2 definitely had the best ending

Yeah honestly. As simple as the ending is it just works and end it on the perfect note.

Metal Gear Solid 3

#56 Posted by spankingaddict (2659 posts) -

Probably The Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker or OOT . Those games really know how to end well .

#57 Posted by Elwoodan (758 posts) -

Banjo Kazooie, not because it was the most emotional or epic ending, but it was the first game I played to completion.

#58 Posted by dcsenn (5 posts) -

@Shirogane: I would have to second your Persona 4 choice. I absolutely loved the ending. :)

I would also like to put Bioshock 2 on the table for a magnificent ending. I was highly satisfied by it.

Medal of Honor: Warfighter was satisfying. Simply because it was finally over!

#60 Posted by Jayzilla (2555 posts) -

Red Dead. That ending was pretty amazing. The epilogue wasn't bad either.

Red Dead for me, realizing there was more main story stuff to do after the "end"

Big fuck yeah moment as well, having to track him down and getting revenge. Then *bam*, Title Card.

@BamurDeadd: I'd say 4 or 5 is probably about right. If you wanted to dash through it probably less, but it's not that kind of game. You want to take your time :D

Be sure to play online, too!

Dark Souls, just because Dark Souls.

Oh come on. Dark Souls is %100 about the journey. The ending sucks. It's nothing. lol

I think you haven't understood what i'm saying. The ending of Dark Souls is indeed terrible but it can be classed as the most satisfying, as when I watched it, it meant I had completed Dark Souls, now that's satisfying.

I really like Mass Effect 1's ending a lot. That moment Shepard crawls out of the rubble to realize how bad-ass she is, just made me feel awesome about that character.

Walking Dead, Red Dead Redemption, Braid, Persona 4

Arkham City is the best in recent memory. The Joker sings a creepy version of "Only you.." Over the credits. The story played out exceptionally well.

What? Which ending did you watch?

Red Dead Redemption was pretty satisfying.

Yes, I get what you are saying now. I actually agree with you then.

Super Metroid

You find out you were playing the entire game as a Dian Parkinson-esque blonde with a fucking power suit, my adolescent brain was blown when I saw that ending. (I played Super Metroid before Metroid despite owning an NES at the time).

Okamis ending is to me extremely satisfying.

Portal 2. The final boss battle did a great job of combining all the puzzle mechanics from previous chapters into a single battle. I didn't find the battle too frustrating and it had good pacing because it was segmented into parts. It felt both old school and new at the same time. Narratively the conclusion to the "story" was amazing and produced a hopeful ending that contrasted the end of the world dirge that the entire game had. It also had one of the great "oh fuck, no you just didn't" moments I ever experienced.

Yup, I was going to come in and probably post Portal 2 for those reasons. The last shot with the portal gun was probably my favorite "holy shit, they did not just do that" moments. =P

The one that sticks out to me as a big "Fuck Yeah!" moment is Darksiders.. Just too bad the sequel failed to deliver so horribly =/

Red Dead Redemption immediately came to mind. Can't think of anything that tops it.

Edit: Fucking what am I thinking... MGS4 and MGS3 were both goddamn fantastic as well. Probably between RDR and MGS4.

#74 Posted by bokchoi (30 posts) -

MGS4 hands down fighting through all the series final bosses with all their theme is amazing and anyone who says it was a cop out is an idiot. Nuff said.

Personally, I liked Mass Effect 3 (before the extended cut). It just seemed fitting.

#76 Posted by CJduke (782 posts) -

Its a tie between Red Dead Redemption and Batman Arkham City

#77 Posted by Animasta (14648 posts) -

OP already mentioned Nier so I don't get to :(

I will add silent hill: shattered memories, because holy fuck

#78 Posted by Terramagi (1159 posts) -

DotA.

You're lying if say you don't get aroused when that victory animation plays.

Either that or Mass Effect 1.

...but seriously, DotA.

Portal 2 and Valkyria Chronicles.

Dragon's Dogma

blew my mind man, that was epic.

after that maybe the original Metroid, nobody at the time thought Samus was a woman. Seems like a "meh" thing today, but back then everyone I knew was determined to see it since it was believed to be an urban legend.

#81 Posted by Swoxx (2988 posts) -

DA:O or KoTOR (the original) for me

#82 Posted by StarvingGamer (7994 posts) -

Fuck, I can't choose. Toss-up between MGS4, Persona 4: Golden, Bayonetta, and Asura's Wrath.

#83 Posted by Maajin (1052 posts) -

Didn't like the end of Red Dead Redemption because I would totally kill all those guys with my dead eye if the game would've let me.

#84 Posted by madmanmaple89 (64 posts) -

Hey look, Red Dead's ending was great, as was Portal 2's ending. I don't know about the rest, I never played them.

But aren't you guys forgetting about the the great Vice City ending and the dialog between Tommy Vercetti and Ken Rosenberg.

#85 Edited by Mrsignerman44 (1100 posts) -

Mass Effect 2's ending had a lot of satisfying moments in it. Pretty much the whole suicide mission if done correctly is full of "Fuck Yeah!"s your first time around.

#86 Posted by Roger778 (953 posts) -

@LikeaSsur:

Yes! I totally agree with you. The Synthesis ending with the extended cut installed, is the most satisfying ending I have experienced in quite some time (the last year or two, to be precise).

#87 Posted by Anund (876 posts) -

KotOR for me. The Uncharted games generally end really well too.

#88 Posted by SerHulse (685 posts) -

Red Dead Redemption for me too please.

I've probably never been as satisfied with the way a game has ended before or since.

#89 Posted by amir90 (2154 posts) -
@Brendan

I cry a little bit at the end of the Lord of the Rings movies every time :'(

Uhh, I mean, Red Dead Redemption's ending was really cool.

You are not alone man :(

I kinda like the. Bioshock ending.
#90 Posted by amir90 (2154 posts) -

Just finished spec ops the line, that had a pretty good ending(s) :)

Metal Gear Solid.

the walking dead love that game

#93 Posted by jebara (64 posts) -

Either Persona 3 or Portal 2

#94 Posted by theveej (812 posts) -

Personally I was really satisfied with the ending of both Walking Dead and Binary Domain this year......... short term bias I guess.

#95 Posted by gamefreak9 (2344 posts) -

FF9! I dno it was like the most emotional thing ever! And not in a lame way. Otherwise, Portal 1 had a fantastic ending.

Damn, i was just about to post this. Snake Eater has such an awesome ending both gameplay and story wise. There's just something about fighting a giant mech/tank while you're escaping in a motorcycle and then going toe-to-toe with the fucking Boss.

Came here just to say that. It's been awhile so I forget a bit but I think the part specifically where you're riding the horse and the music is playing over the rest (although the barn scene plus scene after the game opens up again is amazing as well). One of those endings where they keep hitting with strong moment after strong moment.
