Need help on making my games sound great.

I can't seem to find that much info on what to buy when it comes to audio setup for my TV focused on games. I know home theater systems are probably the way to go but I would like to know if anyone here could help me out with some good ol duder knowledge or a fancy website.

I've also wondered if I should go for either a Home Theater System or a Stereo Shelf System?

The Wirecutter usually has some good suggestions on there for their picks for basically any tech or gadget oriented items.

Their pick for the best budget system though is still being re-evaluated since they usually update their picks once in awhile usually when there are already other newer products that could be better.
