For a while now I've been wanting to get a good long game that would take me a while to chew through.  I've looked at various games and can't quite pull the trigger.  I adore Fallout 3 but with the final DLC pack coming out soon, that game is close to going on the permanant shelf (I dont really feel like another play through).

I'm looking for a game with a good story.   A lot of sandbox games can take a while to beat but really contain more filler then actual story.  I know there are probably tons or JRPG's out there but thats not my thing.

I'll throw out some of my likes/dislikes - any advice would be apprecaiated.   I own each console so platform is not an issue.  I'd even be willing to go previous gen but would have to pick up a PS2 as my PS3 isnt backwards compat.

Dislikes:
Mass Effect
JRPG's
Science Fiction
KOTOR: II

Likes:
KOTOR I
Fallout 3
inFamous
GTA IV

I'm really considering Okami (Wii).  I've heard nothing but great things about it however as noted, I'm afraid it may be a little too japaneese for me.

That'll help us figure out a game for you for sure.

Anyways, sure get Okami for the Wii if you haven't played the PS2 version.

Aren't KOTOR I & Fallout 3 technically science fiction? Anyways...

I will second Oblivion.

The worst part about Okami is the insane amount of dialogue.  It's good, but there's a ton of it.

I wouldn't classify inFamous as sci fi. Mass Effect is sci fi.

I would say Valkyria Chronicles, mainly because it is more of a tactical RPG than a JRPG/WRPG. Then again, you are a fan of inFAMOUS, have you thought about checking out Prototype?

Well, inFamous is science fiction, and so is KOTOR, so make up your mind.

Try to figure out what gameplay you like - not which setting you prefer.

It's not out yet, but Borderlands is probably something you should be looking forward to.
