New Zune Hardware Confirmed, Will Connect To Xbox
Anybody holding their breath for some hot J Allard action. He is in charge of the Zune development, after all.
dude......did they hack an Ipod touch or is that the new zune?
but seriously, sounds cool, if the name recognition for this was better it would be going up against the Istuff rather well.....and by better name recognition i mean if it didn't get you laughed at.
See that looks pretty cool and the 360 integration alone might convince me to buy one but I bet it's still US only. I bet they'll continue to dedicate 50% of their press conference to stuff that 50% of their customer base will never be able to use. The Zune looks a lot cooler than the iTouch imo, I'll take pointy shinny stuff over white curves anyday.
Wow, I'm loving the new design. But what it can do is what really matters. Can't wait to hear more about it.
Looks sick, but if it's less than 60 gigs then I'm of course not interested. I don't see why with each hardware modification they have to lower storage capacity. I'll stick with the ipod classic if that's the case.
Always been a fan of the Zune. Not really a fan of the trivial game support they've been trying to push (which will never be what the iPhone Apps store will be, though maybe that's a good thing), but I love the thing for being, in my opinion, the best dedicated portable media device out there. I actually think this move fits pretty naturally into Microsoft's bigger picture; helping them push their digital music/video distribution platform, while at the same time improving the 360 by adding more direct access to a whole library of video and music, rather then the small samplings that the Live service has seen thus far.
If you think about it, Zune Pass + Netflix could be a pretty killer combination. Of course, I'm the sort that will buy music outright, anyway, because I like to avoid monthly fees., but I could see it being very useful for others.
I do hope that this isn't some major forcus for Microsoft, however. I hope they still have plenty of other major announcements, because while this is kinda nifty, it isn't something game-changing to me.
Oh, but I'll be keeping my Zune 80. Until that thing dies outright, I don't plan on forking over another wad of cash for another DAP.
I would like a software update for the one i have now to work with the system.
the zune interface is actually pretty good. nevermind the branding, it got rave reviews when it was released last year.
I'm buying this. I hope they annouce some serious games for it during E3.
And if the rumors are true about Zune Pass allowing for full song streaming soon, this will be rad on Xbox with custom soundtrack support.
EDIT: I just had a thought..streaming Podcast support via 360?.... Bombcast on 360. That would be cool.
I actually would have bought a Zune if I didn't win my iPod Classic 80GB for free. Sadly, I can't even fill up 10GB of it.
Great now il eventually have to buy one online since for some reason New Zealand doesn't sell these puppies at all.

ZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNE! Man I've been waiting for this for a while. Got a refurb 30gb zune for christmas... probably about 2 or 3 years ago now, and I'm still loving the thing. Can't wait for pricing on this.
The real news in here is the reunion of the two brands:
Xbox = games
Zune = Audi/video content
There simply was no reason to keep those brands apart.
What will they give us next?
-Zune Pass --> LIPS songs?
-Simple XBLA games --> Zunes games?
J ALLARD IS BACK !!!
ALL HAIL THE CXO !!!!

Plus, I have a friend that owned a Zune & it broke after 1 year. He bought another one cheap on ebay & I'm guessing it won't last either. I only put up with RROD due to the great games the 360 has on it, otherwise I wouldn't bother. For portable media systems, look elsewhere other than Mr. Softy. The Zune doesn't hold any value because, as we all know, Mr. Softy sucks at hardware. Wait 6 months & you'll find Zunes in the bargain bins. Bill Gates will have to come out of retirement & give each & every American a Zune to get us all back on the Mr. Softy bandwagon.
