Well, he's playing video games all day and traveling the globe to see more video games and making a 3-hour podcast every week where he talks about some of the stuff he and his friends have done, along with four other guys who have other friends who do some stuff and, oh yeah, they talk about video games. And get paid for it.
...yeah, I'll bash the Xbox and take some hate for that sort of life.

@believer258: So you know, i don't know if you noticed (don't feel weird about it) but that thread is from 2002. Although, I'm sure there's a corner somewhere where people still complain about his reviews- and most other reviewers. I kind of wish I could find something I wrote on the internet in the 90s just to see what I was reading and writing about on the internet at the time. All I remember is making a crappy geocities website with some of my stories.
I know, I was saying that Jeff seems to be in a pretty good position in life all these years later. I don't know about those guys, obviously, but I bet they're not getting paid to play video games.

Oh, definitely. There are people who, to this very day, are still pissed about the famous 8.8. Like, death threat pissed. Keep in mind that these people take up physical space, and ostensibly participate in society. Enough S0n1c_H3dg3h9gs to fill a large auditorium, if not more. And that just covers the people that are pissed about this one particular bit of inconsequentia.
This is the world we live in, folks. No wonder cynicism and nihilism seem to be on the rise.
That son of a bitch. Let's find this Gerstmann person and slam an Xbox on to his head. That'll teach him.
Man, the "hurr gay" comments in that thread are really fucking depressing, even more than the "hurr someone said something bad about a game on my system of choice, he must be biased!" bullshit.
My favorite post:
Gerstmann is without a doubt hatchetman for Sony. Certainly these games aren't the top of the heap by any means, but he severely lowballed them. It's rather suspicious seeing as he gave the abyssmal State of Emergency an 8.5 (a 10 for graphics!), the mediocre Tekken Tag Tournament a 9.6, and the infamous perfect 10 for the PS2 version of the good but not astounding THPS3. I don't know if it's Viagra or what but he seems to get a suspiciously strong tilt whenever a big name PS2 title comes his way...
THPS3 is without a doubt a 10. It's almost an 11.
Sorry my internet decided to go out.
Anywhos, this has now made me start searching my username on google. I actually found a site I used to go to when I played Counter Strike regularly. That was pretty crazy, I totally had forgotten about that. So weird that site even still exists.
@ShaggE: Ya I heard about that. People are crazy though. What ya gonna do haha.
Oh and just cus I just saw it the other day, I now know where your avatar is from. That movie is weird haha
@believer258: Ah. Yes, very salient point. I think the fact that its an xbox site may something to do with it as well- cliche' fan boyism it seems like. Even the posts that start off fairly casually cant help but devolve into inane insults. Its kind of comical in a way haha
I remember I once found a small pamphlet for Xbox games coming soon, and it was just filled with stuff you never heard about (for good reasons) or stuff that just got canned. You know, amazing games like Malice... or Nightcaster... or Kakuto Chojin... or The Lost.
...yeah.
I love how this stuff will be there forever or at least till it gets shut down. Think about in like 10 years, if Giant Bomb is still around, looking at some of the shit we've done on these boards. Hell, looking back at some of my older posts I think I sound like an idiot and that was less than three years. I like to think I'm a much better poster now a days.
I loved it when they assumed he was trailer trash because of some dumb segment on Gamespot. Arguing over scores is so stupid, it's a gut feeling about someone's own personal opinion, which is then run through a stupid math formula to determine an arbitrary number. God 5 stars is so much better.

Hah, I was just gonna point this one out. CLEARLY a hatchetman for Sony. I heard he fired like 10 people over there.
Also, I thought Jeff hated Tekken Tag?

Wow there, I agree with slamming this Gierztmahn with something, but the Xbox have a warning in the manual that it is dangerous to drop it on someone/something (as the only console to have that in the manual if I remember correctly!), the Death Star would be safer to drop on him for all involved.
Who doesn't remember Gunvalkyrie. Now there's a high profile title if there ever was one. If they had bothered to actually read the first sentance of the review -> "Gunvalkyrie is almost a good game, and it won't be surprising to see some people looking past the game's problems and having some fun with it."... Instead of becoming butthurt over a game score (that, actually, looking at what "fair" meant in game review terms on gamespot, kind of fits fairly well with the review.) I love people who look at scores as some kind of final determinator on things, especially when they think a score of 8.0 is the worst thing that ever happened. I mean, how *dare* a professional video game reviewer who's played games almost since the dawn of video games have a different oppinion than me? Needless to say this is an outrage so I must go onto the internet and tell them how absolutely disgusted I am with this and it's quite clear that this reviewer is a fanboy of [insert company you don't like here]. Just look at my proof, the user score! ... and at the same time fail to understand how user score was handled and how easy it was to hand out 1's and 10's to games that had a) not even been released yet and b) that you never even played. I would personally like to move away from score/star systems in general and figure out a better way of doing it.
When the OG Xbox came out, I was like, Fuck the Xbox I'm sticking with my PS2. Stuck it out until the end with my PS2. Barley bought an Xbox 360 like 3 years ago. In other words PS2 > Xbox.
