Greetings,

For the past few years I've been having a couple of friends come over once a week to my place for a gaming night. We usually spent most of our nights playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but recently they've been starting to get more and more frustrated with the game. Maybe it's because we've gotten so good that the slightest mistake or the occasional unresponsive controls can throw a match in another person's favor... or maybe it's just because we've got over 200 hours of vs. play time logged and we're getting slightly burnt-out.

So, since i'm the host and I hate to have my guests leave frustrated, I'm now on the hunt for a new game to play. Unfortunately I've run through all the good offline cooperative or competitive 3+ players games that I know of, so I turn to you guys for help.

Here's the games that we currently play:

  • Guitar Hero
  • Buzz! Quiz World
  • Super Smash Bro: Brawl
Games that we've finished or no longer play:
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 (finished, enjoyed)
  • Little Big Planet (finished, so-so)
  • New Super Mario Bros. Wii (finished, so-so, too much anarchy :) )
  • Mario Kart Wii (got bored really quickly)
  • Wii Sports/ Wii Sports Resort (got old quickly)

I own all the current generation of consoles (PS3, XBox360, & Wii), and I also have a decent PC hooked up to the TV.
We don't really have any preferences on game styles as long as it supports 3 or 4 players, with simultaneous play greatly preferred over turn-based.

I'd appreciate for any recommendation you guys may have.
Thanks!

Only two players on split-screen, isn't it? (Edit: Only two players)

I nominate Castle Crashers and 'Splosion Man. Not that much playtime to be had (unless you find them really awesome and play them repeatedly), but they support 4 players and good for some inexpensive fun.

I wish to know this myself! There's a severe lack of offline fun multiplayer games that are not shooters on most consoles.

You can play twice with each character. Not to mention the DLC. Its a great game.

NHL 09. i've had the greatest multiplayer moments in that game, and i play with people that don't like sports games. they love it. people are always yelling of excitement when a game is going on.

@The_Laughing_Man:  He said he doesn't like turn-based, so presumably he doesn't want to have 1-2 people sitting out and watching the others play.

It's still worth checking out, though. I agree with that.

Perfect Dark has nifty 4 player split screen, 'Slosion Man and Castle Crashers already nominated.

Oh and Raving Rabbits on the Wii. No really.

@Bigandtasty: Thanks, I'll look into Castle Crashers, it looks worth a try.

@Jonnyboy: I forgot to put Raving Rabbits on the list. We've played Raving Rabbids 2 (which I know is consideredone of the worst raving rabbids), and they didn't like it much. Too much "mini-game", not enough "game". Same reason I'm not looking to try Mario Party and the likes. Thanks anways.

@The_Laughing_Man: I've already played through Borderland by myself with two of the classes, so I don't really feel like going through that game again.

Word. 16 players, Bomberman becomes one pixel wide and one pixel tall.

@AjayRaz: 's NHL 09 is a great suggestion; Borderlands too. I like racing games for multiplayer but it sounds like you're looking for a more co-op style of game.
