This is an old April Fool's joke from 2006 on Gamespot.com. Looking at it now, it's pretty ironic how accurate the prediction was, while still being an April Fool's joke. It was almost like a prophecy! o_0.

I guess. I mean it would have been a better prophecy had it said it would have completely dominated from the start.. it's been the market leader for awhile now.

It's not irony. It's making fun of fanboyism. The author was not trying to suggest that the Wii could or couldn't become the top seller.

I wonder if anyone actually bothered to read the damn thing.

Noone expected Wii to be the best selling console before it came out, even Nintendo didn't expect it to happen.  Most gamers expected a complete failure.  Although, when shows like Late Night, Today, and South Park started featuring the Wii a week before it even came out, I knew Nintendo had spent hundreds of millions on advertising, and that it would probably take off within the mainstream/casual market.
