Please, please don't merge the forums.

I can't stress this enough. As someone that was on GS's forums in my teens, they are the WORST. Nothing but hyper fanboys screaming abuse at each other and every review on the site. Even worse, it's gameFAQ's forums too. 2 horrendous forums in one. This community isn't amazing but it's a thousand times what GS will ever be.

Ignore the OP guys, he gave (video game) an 8.5 when it deserved a 9.25 EASILY!

I just wonder, if they're gonna merge accounts somehow (using emails) I wonder what will happen with my banned Gamespot account. 

I believe Giant Bomb is still going to be Giant Bomb. Jeff did mention something about redesigning the forums.
 
Also, cursing will still be allowed. Not in titles though.

I agree with this, add to the fact that the moderators try to level this by reporting EVERYTHING you say. Fuck the Gamespot moderators.

they made sure to make it clear that the sites are not merging. the forums are part of the sites.

I would be shocked if the forums merged.

They were not always merged with GameFAQs. The merging of the boards took place in 2004. Prior to that, Gamespot had pretty decent forums that I frequently used.

Even if they don't merge you may want to avoid the forums for the first month or so, there will probably be an influx of posts from them.

I wouldn't want the boards merged either. Two completely separate and different communities do not mix well.

These posts aren't making me any less terrified! The announcement video won't load for me! I'm going to have a panic attack!

If they merged the forums I would actually leave.

I don't think we'll have to worry about that. I think we won't have to worry about much of what is being said.

Actually the only merged boards are the game boards. All social boards and special interest boards are separated. Things are a bit complicated, but outside of GameSpot users being able to post on the game boards, they are totally separate with their own moderation staff and rules.

The solution could be subscriber only boards. Doesn't help everyone, but would be a nice perk pending a forum merger. That being said, I barely post here anyway haha.

This entire move is to allow GB to be bigger right? To allow them mroe brathing room, creativity, blal blah.
