As it often feels like a complete sausage party here on Giant Bomb, I'd be curious to know precisely how unbalanced the community's gender ratio really is.

Also, I know that gender exists on a spectrum and can't be measured in concrete terms but for the sake of clarity I've just left the two options. If neither applies to you then just leave it blank.

In french we use ''sex'', but I guess asking ''What is your sex?'' could have taken the poll to an... unexpected path.

@Socialone: also there's a distinction between sex and gender in English, with sex referring to the biological characteristics (like genitals) and gender referring to socially constructed roles (are you masculine or feminine)

So you're correct that it should be "What is your sex?" since he's looking for the ratio of men to women.

but whatever.

I detect a strong androidy tone to that sentence. You have to tell me if you're an android. It's the law.

So, are you an android?

No I'm not. I'm looking for gender. However, to avoid complication in the poll results I only left the two options.

it shouldn't, though, because on the internet the physical characters don't really matter and it's all about what you identify as.

edit; also laaaaaaaady

Ugh, I'm not too sure what you're looking for after reading the comments. I am female, but, are you wanting to know what gender we most identify with regardless of sex?

Also, I'm a Pokémon Trainer. Licensed Pokémon Trainer.

And, yeah. The question is about gender, yet the options are about sex. That's not "political correctness": they are two different things.

Yes.

Other.

I always feel really weird about not identifying with male... culture. Or whatever it is. But I'm not very bothered with it. But I do feel like the odd one out and not "one of the boys" when they're talking about stuff.

I wouldn't say that I identify with females either, I'm not comfortable with that definition. I'm very emotional and oversensitive and tend to enjoy stuff/have more in common with my female friends. If you want to call those traits feminine, or the stuff "girly" well that's on you. I'm not going down that dark path. Girls just tend to also enjoy the stuff I enjoy is all. I wouldn't mind having some male friends who were into that stuff, but I just don't.

Also, I'm straight. So :P

No, it's still gender. Just without the spectrum. As I've said, I did this for the sake of clarity.

actually I think sex is between male and female, and gender is man or woman. why? I dunno.

I can change gender on a whim. In fact, *transforms into Rise Kujikawa* like that. Not feeling terribly different, though, although that's certainly because I'm used to doing this by now.

Surely :)

I don't know how I would feel about that, but I think it could be pretty cool.

Hmm. What would happen if you transformed into Naoto?

#47 Posted by Arbie (1449 posts) -

@Jrinswand:Ah, right okay. I always thought that was 'gender identity'. But that might just be because most forms I fill in now say 'gender' rather than 'sex'!

Well I don't know. I guess I have hobbies that are mostly associated with guys but I like playing with my hair and make up and dresses and cute stuff. I don't know where that places me. Surely there is some quiz on the internet that can tell me. Onwards to Google!
