If you guys didn't check it out already, the Serious Sam Double D Quicklook has Jeff VERY intrigued. He pauses to ask serious questions about the mechanic and most importantly, the scope of the game, trying to get an idea of how long an endurance run might take. I'm going to guess by his reactions to SS:DD that it will be the first post Pax endurance run of 2011.
Predictions: The first post pax endurance run of 2011.
Oregon Trail through the ages.
Don't know how they will capture from an Apple II, no doubt they have top men on it.
Pretty sure that SS:DD isn't quite involved enough for an ER. I'm also pretty sure that they wouldn't announce anything if they didn't already have something in mind.
I'm pretty sure they thought about what they'd do for an ER before they made the announcement. Jeff was asking questions because Ryan didn't say anything and that's the whole point of quick looks.
ER is suited for longer, more involved games that maybe are a little quirky (persona 4, deadly premonition) that aren't necessarily your main stream action adventures (like an Uncharted). Dark Souls would fit into that. Or maybe even something more obscure. Personally, I'd love it if they imported Xenoblade Chronicles and surprised the shit out of people :)

Dark Souls would be too much inching though dungeons and not enough funny story.
Exactly. We need a funny story in order for the ER to succeed. Deadly Premonition's story was great and Persona 4's was perfect in terms of quality, length and humor.
Dark Souls is a horrible idea, because I want to play it but not immediately at launch, and having to watch all the Dark Souls ER videos uploading and forcing myself to not watch them seems tough.
It's not an Endurance Run unless it's a long game and/or a game that is hard to deal with for long periods of time. Serious Sam DD is clearly neither of these things.
You know what would be a good idea for an ER? Xenoblade.
Alternately: some old-school WRPG shit like Icewind Dale, featuring Dave and Vinny. Not that Dave has time for that, but it would be great.
A Patrick and Dave ER of the original Deus Ex. I'm probably miles off, but I'm certain that Jeff won't be in it. He answered a formspring question that basically asked "why did you guys decide to do a new endurance run" and basically said "some of the guys wanted to do one, so they're doing it". Those aren't exact quotes, I can't be bothered to find the exact question.
I would watch that.Nah son
Let me just put it out there, it's perfect………………
Dark Souls. Done, case closed.
If Jeff isn't in it, I'll be terribly, terribly sad.
If Vinny isn't in it, I'm not sure I'll bother watching.
I think the exact quote was: "Some guys want to do one, so they're going to do one." Worded like this, Jeff could very well be a part of it, but I don't think he will.and basically said "some of the guys wanted to do one, so they're doing it". Those aren't exact quotes, I can't be bothered to find the exact question.
I don't think Yakuza 4 is a likely candidate, because Jeff is the only guy on staff who's remotely interested in that series, and he's not participating in this Endurance Run.
Dark Souls, on the other hand, doesn't particularly lend itself to hilarious commentary… unless you think Gary Whitta is hilarious--because, really, what more could be said other than "Use more skill"?
And for those still wondering about Jeff, his exact quote is right here.
All I want is Vinny, the rest is secondary.
Oh and speaking of Vinny, he should also participate in the new endurance run, whatever it is.
Jeffrey & Vincent were a great team for Persona, but I could see Vincent and Dave, or possibly Vincent and Ryan.
Someone also asked Gerstmann on formspring if it was Star Wars Galaxies and he said "God, I hope not.", which is could indicate that he will be involved in it after all.
I just hope it's something real and not some stupid thing like that farmville series that just up and vanished. I hope it's not Yakuza, because I have 3 sitting on my shelf waiting to get played but I can't because I need to find $200 to get my PS3 fixed. I would hate to have the game spoiled. My hope is maybe Dave and Vinny doing some old PC RPG.
Yakuza would be lovely; but I'd be fine with almost anything they threw at me.
No really concrete preferences, but it'd be nice if it was something in the same vein as the past two games: quirky and heavily story-driven. The best parts of those ERs were watching those stories unravel; not so sure watching Vinny play Dark Souls would fulfill that.
They'd have to be interested in playing it first.Nah son

Keep in mind, Jeff clearly states on his formspring account that he will occasionally straight up lie in his answers, for his own amusement.
Just as long as it funny like the other two, and hopefully longer than DP and maybe shorter than P4, then I'm ok with it.
But I'm gonna guess that it'll probably be a Japanese game, Dark Souls is what I'm thinking now but it probably won't be.
I have no idea. I can't really see it being any type of shooter, so ME3 is out of the question. Skyrim would be good but I doubt the story will be as prevalent compared to DP and Persona 4.
Would they go back and do a game from the past? Yakuza does seem weird, story focused and long enough to do an ER though.

But I'm half way through it!
Although I probably would watch them even though I know what happens.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a game in the 10-15 hour range. They seem to get burned out on the ER with daily episodes. An hour a week of a game like that would last 3 months
A live weekly endurance run episode like they did with Daggerfall today would be a great replacement for the current subscriber show, Skyrim would be a good choice.
