Infamous seems like a much more polished game than Prototype. I like things in both games, but Prototype looks like it will have some problems. I'll probably rent both though, just to see what they are like when they release.
I personally think Prototype looks absolutely awful. At least inFamous looks to have a bit of substance rather then just Hulk Ultimate Destruction style mindless violence and graphical/gameplay bugs.
Prototype has variety in gameplay but the narrative is questionable. Prototype is on Both PS3 and 360. "Alex Mercer consumes, impales, punches and shape-shifts into his enemies in Prototype, a sandbox-style action game where you have the ability to move around the world with movements inspired by parkour." >Would do well to have a Level Editor and multiplayer. If it did it would have the same kind of long term fun to be had from LittleBigPlanet or Garry's Mod.
Infamous has an interesting narrative but gameplay is less varied. Infamous is only on PS3. "InFamous is a third-person open-world action-adventure game. The player takes control of Cole, an urban explorer changed by a mysterious blast that has granted him electricity-based superpowers. It is up to the player to decide whether to use these powers for good or for evil." >I hope its a large open world like in Fallout 3, Oblivion or Half Life 2.
The games are similar in many ways, I wonder who started development first. Both games remind me a bit of Crackdown that came out for the 360 a while back. >I'm going to hold my judgement one which is "better" they both have their merits.
I've disliked Infamous almost since I first saw footage of it. The article in Game Informer made it look awesome, but shooting little balls of lightning at people just seems so boring. Of course, I dont have a PS3, so I wont be getting it any time soon anyway. Im definately leaning towards Prototype.
If you take even a look at both games at the same time for just a second, its completely obvious that Prototype blows Infamous away. I will most likely still try Infamous, but its not even a slight competition.
