Well sometime in the last 2 days Puzzle Quest has become avaliable on the App Store. Only thing is its not the full puzzle quest, its called Puzzle Quest Chapter 1: Battle of Gruulkar and will run you $10. Speculation is saying that this is half of the whole Puzzle Quest game, others say it is a third of it, but since no one has really sat down and ground through the game yet, it is unknown. Apparently that isnt the only issue the game has though. Transgaming, that company that did the port, seemed to have slapped this together very quickly which caused a huge amout of problems like unreadable text, large amounts of slowdown during battles, and very blurry visuals. I am planning on purchasing this, and I will be back with impressions of just how bad these problems seem to be soon, but until then any thoughts from people who already purchased the game would be appreciated. Also, there is no idication as to whether a patch is planned for the game yet, so buy at your own risk. It seems like all these problems could have been avoided if time had been taken to properly test the game, but in this economic environment I imagine a publisher like D3 expects people to just buy this with the assumption that it would be very hard to screw up puzzle quest, but it seems the developers may have done just that.
Puzzle Quest Iphone- victim of rushed development, little testing
I bought this the other day and have spent probaly around 5 hours with it. Its definitely Puzzle Quest, and if thats all you want then its fine, but there are many many technical problems. I'll try to have much more in depth impressions up tonight or tomorow, but until then here are some screenshots that I took.
"I haven't purchased it - and I was really looking forward to Puzzle Quest on the iPhone even before it was announced. After digging around, I think I've figured the whole pricing thing out. The first chapter is the first half of the original game, the second chapter will be the last half, and then the third chapter will be the Revenge of the Plague Lord expansion pack that was originally avaliable for the XBLA version.
Dunno how you screw it up, or think you can charge more for it than any other available version (XBLA, PSN, Steam even without considering the bugs."
