D. Don't worry though. I only played three or four games that were out this year. ^^
Ok, maybe five.
Raise Your Hand if Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead are the Only Games You Bought this Year
I'm just putting this up here because I was just trying to complete the GOTY list. I noticed I couldn't think of anything other than Red Dead and Mass Effect 2 that I actually played from this year. I've mostly just been playing old crpgs and Minecraft. For the record, my vote goes to ME2, over Red Dead.
Basically, my point is that games are expensive, dude.
"... games are expensive, dude. "Agreed.
I voted D though. Never not attacking.

Games that released this year and I played:
- Mass Effect 2
- Alpha Protocol
- Super Meat Boy
- Nier
- Alan Wake
- Deadly Premonition
Ok, they were six. >_>
I bought way too much shit in late 2009 (post September/October) up to 2010, even if it wasn't a game from this year.
- Assassin's Creed II
- ArmA II: Combined Arms
- Battlefield: Bad Company 2
- Fallout 3
- Forza Motorsport 3
- Final Fantasy XIII
- Mass Effect 2
- Minecraft
- Metro 2033
- Modern Warfare 2
- StarCraft 2
- Super Street Fighter IV
- Resonance of Fate
- A bunch of other indie shit I bought in bundles
I've voiced my opinion on RDR often, but I'll do it again. Feigned grandeur does not entail game of the year. As much as I like the world, and exploring it, the characters were hideous and the story was well-trodden. I liked the revenge aspect (cliched as it may be, I fall for it every time), but the end didn't ring true at all and fell flat exactly when it told me for the 6th time (and not the last), that John Marston was a dying breed, not long for this world.
Oh, yeah. And I put Demon's Souls at #1 on my list. That game came out this year in the UK. Don't know if that's right or wrong (I live in the US).

"I simply wouldn't consider Red Dead for GOTY because of its released state. The game was released with an endless thicket of bugs. That should never be rewarded, regardless of how awesome the bugs were.
I played a few games from this year(including RDD and ME2) but the only ones I cared about were Fallout New Vegas and Super Meat Boy.
I bought and played NEITHER of those games... Super Street Fighter IV is all I needed this year.........and New Vegas on the side. Ha.
" @Jeust: Not any of those... I may buy Super Meat Boy soon, though. Maybe I can play enough of that to add it to the list.Yeah! I think it can be counted, as last year Persona 4 was on the official top 10, as it went out on Europe, much like Demon Souls this year.

OFFICIAL REMINDER, PEOPLE: YOU CAN STILL VOTE FOR DEMON'S SOULS!!!
I have played exactly 10 games that came out this year, which made it rather easy to put together a list. Only the first five games are games that I'd actually consider notable enough for such a list, but hey, I had to get 10. Anyway, my list:
- Mass Effect 2
- Bayonetta
- God of War III
- Red Dead Redemption
- Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
- Dante's Inferno
- Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter
- Super Meat Boy
- Bioshock 2
- Shank
So yeah. The last five games there really don't belong on any such list, but what can you do if those are the only games you've played? Well, Super Meat Boy has something cool going for it with its focused concept, but I enjoyed Dante's Inferno and Serious Sam more, so I put it lower than those. Something I also noticed was that I've only beaten the first three games thus far, something I ought to set straight soon over the coming break.
God damn. I forgot about God of War III. Now I've got FOUR games I played. God of War is just ahead of Red Dead, at third.
Two games from 2010. Some of us don't have money to spend on $60 games. Fuck you and I hope you die." You only bought two games? That seems really really stupid. "
" I spent a lot of money on games this year, and my two favourite games were both $15-ish: Scott Pilgrim and Minecraft. It just goes to show that blah-blah-blah and that's the true meaning of Christmas. "Your blahs are wise beyond their years.

" What do you have for sale? "I've got a long sword, a magical ring, and an acorn.
*The acorn is FROM A GOD (Perception)*
I have a job, no kids, no wife, a 360, PS3, PSP, gaming PC and a good size disposable income. I bought dozens of games this year.
Which is your favorite from those? (I'm guessing Nier or Alan Wake :D)
Games that released this year and I played:
- Mass Effect 2
- Alpha Protocol
- Super Meat Boy
- Nier
- Alan Wake
- Deadly Premonition

Ok, they were six. >_>
And i'm about to get alpha protocol. Hows that?
Actually I played one more. Deadliest Warrior. ^^" @Jeust said:

My favourite for now is Alan Wake.
Here is more or less my top.
- Alan Wake - for the atmosphere and story. The gameplay is also no slouch, making a very compelling experience.
- Mass Effect 2 - an awesome game. Still the atmosphere and diversity of the universe aren't too interesting. Some characters fall flat.
- Nier - another great entry. It has a great story, and an overall impressive background. The gameplay is despite very diverse, serviceable. The biggest detriment about it is the low budget feel and lack of polish of some of its gameplay. The behaviour given to npcs that accompaign you is sometimes pretty jarring.
- Alpha Protocol - Although not a technically impressive game, it is a very good action oriented RPG. It has memorable characters and an organic interactions between the characters. The plot is the standard fare in spy stories: shady corporations and the world at peril. It is a great game.
- Deadly Premonition - the game is also technically not impressive. Despite this, all the rest is awesome! Great funny characters, good gameplay, apart from the driving sequences, and interesting story. Still playing through it.
- Super Meat Boy - a great plataformer. Hard, still funny and captivating enough for a casual player to endure.
- Deadliest Warrior - a better game on paper than on reality, as the low number of characters, and the great randomness with which damage is asserted makes it boring after a little while.
Alpha Protocol is a good buy, if you go for it. There are features in it that will rock your boat, still the gameplay is not as polished as ME2. But it is awesome in its own right.
And about that other pm, I'll write you back in a bit. I'm still a bit confused about where some of my ideas lie. ^^
I'm not worried about Alpha protocol's technical problems, as a good story with great characters are more important to me than gameplay. That's why in comparison with Mass Effect, I found ME2 a little disappointing. Because even though it had improved gameplay, the story could not compete with the awesomeness of ME1's
Hehe no problems about the PM, enjoy your christmas :P
Good choices! Still in my opinion the best Fable game, is Fable: the Lost Chapters, and that you can get for the PC. The other ones are better graphically, a lil better in terms of variety, but the first one has the best story, and it was the one I enjoyed more playing.
Some other great games for the Xbox 360 (besides Alan Wake and Deadly Premonition):
- The Darkness - dirty cheap right now, and with an awesome story, with great moments, and dark powers to dispose of your enemies as you see fit.
- The Force Unleashed - playing with the force has never been more fun.
- Lost Odyssey - an RPG with a great story and some really strong emotional moments.
One game that often gets forgotten, still it is great, and there is for the PC is Alone in the Dark. It's an horror game, much like Alan Wake, but with really cheesy lines much like Two Worlds. You should check it. ^^
The gameplay in Alpha Protocol isn't bad. Still it is a RPG in the core, so don't expect many headshots, like in shooters.
You too! Thanks for everything man!
And why the fuck would I want to vote for a masocore piece of Japanese bullshit trying to pretend its relevant in today's game market? Anyone who likes Demon's Souls is just looking for some kind of excuse to extend their "gamer cred" and use it as an excuse to call other gamers pussies because they don't find beating their head against a wall in endless frustration "fun"." @Jeust: Nice

I don't know. It's just insanely fun. I - honestly - never thought it was really hard. I died a few times my first playthrough, of course. But I just loved everything else about it. I loved the way each piece was connected to eachother, and I loved how it almost felt like an mmo - but fun.
I donno. I liked it ... a lot. And don't go calling me a pussy for liking a game. That... well that doesn't even make sense.
