Hello Members! Just yesterday I finished the single-player campaign for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and I am in the mood to play some more shooters. First or third-person it doesn't matter. Also, quality doesn't matter too much. I don't want anything broken or likely to frustrate the hell out of me (no Rogue Warrior), but I'm not looking for Game of the Year material either. You see this is a Gamefly rental, so I'll play it for a while then go on to something else. The only real requisite is that I am only interested in playing the single-player game, so no multiplayer-only games like MAG. Xbox 360 & PS3 games, by the way.

Additionally, I've already played the following so I need something else
Halo 1-3 and ODST (I have Reach on my Gamefly queue but I doubt it'll be available until next year)
Gears 1 & 2
Uncharted 1 & 2
COD 2-4, & MW2 (I started W@W and got about 25% through, is it worth re-renting?)
Battlefield Bad Company 1 & 2
Half-Life 2 (Orange Box)
Rainbow 6 Vegas 1 & 2
GRAW 1 (only played a bit of GRAW 2)
Bioshock 1
Borderlands
Perfect Dark Zero
Far Cry 1
Killzone 2
Unreal Tournament 3
Resistance 1 & 2

I'm thinking Wolfenstein, Far Cry 2or Bioshock 2, but any recommendations will be considered. Also, I have Red Faction: Guerrilla on the PC so no need to rent that one.

EDIT: Current recommendations from 'Bombers include L4D, The Darkness, Just Cause 2, Metro 2033, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, 50 Cent Blood on the Sand, Vanquish, Fear 2, Stranglehold, Earth Defense Force 2017 and Singularity

UPDATE:

I want to thank everyone for their help this past day. Thanks to your suggestions, I abandoned all of my original candidates and went with Vanquish, The Darkness, Left 4 Dead and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. I will be trying out the others like Just Cause 2 and Metro 2033 somewhere down the line. The ones above seemed to be fast paced and mostly brainless (except L4D which is full of brains) and that's the type of gameplay I am looking for at this moment. I'm not sure what game will show up in the mail next week, but whichever it is, I'm sure I'll have a good time with it. Thanks again , folks.

UPDATE #2:

Surprisingly enough Halo Reach showed up. This is only the second time I ever got a recent game in my 2+ years of subscription. I did not expect that to happen.

If you're going to count RF:G as a shooter, you may as well try out Fallout 3 and Fallout:NV. Not really "shooter" shooters, but they do have shooting in them, and have really immersive stories and gameplay. They'll also get you your monies worth as there's at least 40-50 hours of gameplay in the single player story, and another 150 hours in extra side quests.

Just my 2 cents.

Check out Metro 2033. Its a bit buggy but one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played.
Condemned 1 and 2 are really freakin good.

Another vote for ME1 and 2. Especially 2, but play 1 just to make sure you pick up the nuances in ME2.

If you have a PC from the past couple of years, just get Steam and buy Painkiller. No questions asked. Just do it.

Also, for Xbox Live Arcade, Serious Sam HD: First & Second Encounter are fantastic.

It can be a little flat on single player - but if you see it in a bargain bin and don't mind taking a punt - why not try Left 4 Dead 1?

It's certainly worth a play through single-player, even if you don't come back as often as you might on XBOX Live.

@zegolf:@overbyte:@zegolf: Yes, I have Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 1 & 2 (played 1 three times), but even though they have shooter mechanics I consider them more like an RPG. I know I listed Borderlands, but that feels more like a shooter with RPG aspects than FO3 and ME1 & 2.

@Ghostiet: I have that on the PC thanks to Steam, but yeah just going for console stuff since it's a Gamefly rental.

@dbz1995: My PS3 plays PS2 games but I played the hell out of Timesplitters: Future Perfect on my old original Xbox last generation. I guess I could look at other PS2 titles, though.

@JerkFace:@audiosnag: Thanks, those are a few I will look into. I remember the Quick Look for Metro and how bullets are your currency. Does the game move relatively fast?

@smokemare: You know I thought about L4D & L4D2 but wasn't sure if the game was playable single-player only. I wasn't sure how the party A.I. was and if I could get through the game alone. This is definitely one to reconsider if it is.

Far Cry 2 definitely has some enjoyable aspects, or if you're into dinosaurs and some mindless killing try Turok out.
You could also try out The Darkness, didn't play it far but the shooting felt pretty alright and the story looks to be an interesting one.

Word of warning about Far Cry 2, compared to some recent shooters it might feel a bit rusted and slow, and there's sometimes a lot of driving around inbetween missions and the like (open world and all that jazz) but it's a fun enough game, especially for the low price it goes for nowadays!

@PenguinDust: Fair enough. I lump Fallout into that RPG category as well, because it really ISN'T a shooter, but it's categorized as one in most places, so I figured I'd recommend it.

This. If you enjoyed Bioshock I'd recommend the sequel. The story isn't quite as good as the story in the first but the ability to dual-wield plasmids and weapons makes the gameplay much more enjoyable than the first.

@PenguinDust: I'm going to be completely honest, Just Cause 2 is a shallow, but extremely fun sandbox game. For such a huge game, the graphics look great and the game plays well. Just don't go into Just Cause 2 looking for long-term payoff: the storyline is quite goofy and forgettable.

As for the shooting, it can be fun when you're messing around, less so when you're doing the later, more difficult missions.

If you're going to play Metro 2033, I'd recommend the PC release.

Stranglehold would be a decent one. It's not going to blow you away, but it's fun for a quick pick-up-and-shoot-some-fools session.

@eroticfishcake: Yes, I've heard of it. Hell, I might have even played the demo since I once had a subscription to PC Gamer. I think that's how I played a bit of Oni (another anime-like game) back then. But, this round I am just looking for console games preferably PS3 and 360. This is to find a few shooters for my Gamefly queue. I'm looking for some mindless fast paced time wasters. So far I've gotten some good suggestions and I'll pick 3 for now to fill out my queue and see what shows up. But, I plan to try them all eventually.

@Driadon:Stranglehold is yet another I hadn't thought of. Is it mostly shooting and stuff, because I am not looking for a lot of Tomb Raider/Uncharted puzzles right now. I am never quite sure which way a 3rd-person game will go.

I'll add that and Fear 2 to the list.

Anyone know if Wet is worth the time? Is that more a shooting platformer rather than a straight up shooter?
