Ok so I have a week off and not much to do. Normally, this is the time when I clear my backlog of games... except I just realized I don't have one. SO, it's time to buy some new ones!
Just the facts:
- I live in Australia.
- I'd prefer things that aren't new releases, because new releases cost like a million dollars down here.
- I have access to a gaming PC (but it's not good enough to play new release games), a PS3, 360, Wii and DS.
- I like shooters, strategy games and western RPGs mostly, but I'm open to trying new things.
Any ideas?
Recommend me a videogame or two
I reccommend LoZ:Skyward Sword, Diablo III (low settings but still fun!), CoD Black Ops, Persona 5, Catherine, etc.
I don't know what games you have completed.

I would list every game I've completed, but it's a pretty big list bro. Assassin's Creed series, command and conquers, halos, call of duties, half life series, portal, splinter cells up to conviction, Uncharted series, Killzone 2, resistance series, Mass Effect series...
Just list some great games, and I can sort through the ones I've already played myself. It doesn't really matter if you list ones that I have.
It's an economic strategy game, a city builder if you may. The single player or story mode is long, the other modes are longer.
Well, GOG are selling some old shooters at the moment that you definitely don't need a good PC for.
Duke Nukem 3D (& Manhattan Project)
Blake Stone 1&2
Rise of the Triad
Ive been playing Alien Swarm and Torchlight lately, aside from SC2 of course. On Xbox360 side of things though Monday Night Combat and Bad Company 2 been eating up some time for me as well. Was playing the new Castlevainia arcade game but then I got torchlight on my pc, no multiplayer but it gets my lootlust sated.
When Ive got some time to kill for gaming I often play through old games on my snes or psx, Final Fantasy 6 and Harvest Moon for those two consoles respectively are always good time sinks for me, but they appeal to me a lot out of nostalgia so take that in mind. I personally prefer to play these games through an emulator (with my own game disks, or roms of cartridges I own) so I can throttle the game speed or watch movies on the TV. Yeah speed throttle kills a bit of the nostalgia, but sometimes running really fast from place to place is nice. Oh and wired 360 controllers work as pc gamepads, FYI.
I like shooters, strategy games and western RPGs mostly, but I'm open to trying new things. Any ideas? "I will recommend three for you: Fallout 3, Red Dead Redemption, and Victoria II. The first should satisfy your want for a RPG game, the second will accommodate your shooter needs, and the last is a particularly complex and somewhat obscure new strategy title that should run on your PC (the only platform suitable for the genre).
If you have played through Fallout 3: I could recommend renting Alpha Protocol, as it possesses some substantial RPG elements and a magnificent story. Incidentally; an alternative to RDR would be Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
" I'd prefer things that aren't new releases, because new releases cost like a million dollars down here"too bloody right. i wont buy anything over 70 dollars here. its a joke when you see ps3 games on shelves here for 119.95 in places like eb games. i've been waiting for red dead to drop to my 70 mark so i could buy it for a while (as its not a game i desperately want to play so im not gonna stoop up the 99 or whatever it is they want in jb, which would be the cheapest im guessing) but it just wont drop and i have my doubts it will for a while. the only bargain ive ever gotten is a 10 dollar brand new mirrors edge copy. ANYWAYS
this year i've enjoyed mass effect 2, fallout 3 and sonic & sega all stars racing surprisingly. would definitely suggest all 3.
Fable 2, Kotor and Red Dead have caught my eye from this list. My worry is that KOTOR 2 is really buggy from what I've heard; did that ever get fixed? Red Dead is a bit pricey still, and I've yet to enjoy a single GTA game. If I hated GTA games, will Red Dead change my mind?
Nobody mentioned it, but is Prototype worth the money? I know some folks who loved that game.
Also:
Fallout 3 comes pretty highly recommended, but after checking out some gameplay vids, it doesn't look very interesting really. Is it something that I'm likely to "Get into" after playing it? Also, Demon's Souls is reportedly really dicking hard. How hard, and is it hard enough to put you off finishing it if you aren't a completionist?
" The Witcher KOTOR Fallout 1 and 2 Morrowind "too many... RPG recommendations.. in a row... head hurts.... cant compute
I'll one-up you, Don't Shit Your Pants. Free too." Try Not To Fart "

" Dawn of Discovery for the Wii, might be Anno: Create a New World where you're from. It's an economic strategy game, a city builder if you may. The single player or story mode is long, the other modes are longer. "
Or just play regular Dawn of Discovery on your PC, should handle it okay. I'm playing through it again, still great. (To be fair I am a jerk that thinks Wii ports are going to be lame)
Did you play Arkham Asylum? Hell of a game. Let's see... Company of Heroes or Dawn of War 2 are (lightly) aged but awesome RTSes.
" Try Not To Fart "i failed
