Releasing a game I worked on in 40 hours, wanted to share

Hello duders!

Some of you will know me from the PAX Aus meetups, others may have seen me on Warframe or just occasional posts here, but I'm a producer at an indie label and we're about to release another game that I was working on.

While I may not be posting a lot, I read a tonne of the threads, and spend most of my free time watching and reading Giant Bomb content, and some of the coolest people I have met have come from this site, so I wanted to share some Steam codes for the project I've been working on for the past six months.

Hope you all enjoy! Mods - if there's a better way for me to do this, just let me know!

I claimed the first code. Seems really neato, Uplink was probably one of the more interesting games I ever played, so looking forward to this.

I don't know what happened to my comment, I guess you (or the mods) didn't want the name of the game in the thread, understandable. Looking forward to playing it, I like this kind of stuff.

What is it? You only referred to it as "the project" and "the game."

@thunderslash yeah, I meant that it is coming out in 40 hours from now - the game was in development for a long time before we got involved, and I've been personally working with it for 6 months. Also provided some of the extra writing too!

@Mike I didn't want to name it because I didn't want this thread to be seen as advertising - I just wanted to share the game with the community I love so much!

@hellerphant: Out of curiosity, was the game I mentioned one of the inspirations for this? So far it seems to be a more realized execution of that particular concept.

@adequatelyprepared absolutely an inspiration. The creator wanted more of that game, and then took it down his own path.

Snagged a code, but kind of forgot which one. Just played around with it a little bit and liked what I played. I am a bit of a sucker for computer simulation games and from what I played this looks like it could be a pretty neat game. Seems like a cool way of framing an adventure game.

Cool idea, congratulations for having your game released! Seems like all codes were used up - it's a bit sad that people are dicks and not everyone wrote in that they used a code and thanked you.

Wow, an actual steam release. Right on, duder! Congrats! I'm curious as to what this is. All the codes were snatched up but if it looks good for the price, l will give it a fair shot of judgement for my purchase!

I liked Uplink.

@hellerphant: Played it and it's a really solid effort. I'm not sure how early the build is but with some minor tweaks and some more graphical embellishments this could be a hell of a thing. It's already really enjoyable in it's current form.

I'm just going to assume that all of the codes got used up but I just wanted to come in here and say that's a really cool way to give back to a community you enjoy!

Yup, looks like all codes have been used. Looks like a rad game anyway, loved Uplink back in the day, and I'll keep my eyes on this.

I sent a key over to Vinny at GBEAST but haven't heard back. Would be a dream if they played it. The guys played two of my previous games on UPF, and ripped one of them apart in particular which broke my heart lol.

Unfortuntely I've arrived too late to this forum to take your game for a spin @hellerphant, but I did get to check it on Steam and do some reading. Looks pretty cool, especially for forty hours of invested work (congrats)!

@ghost_cat thanks so much! But yeah, I have been working on the project for six months (when I posted this thread, it was releasing in 40 hours), and the developer had been working on it for another six months before I joined.

I just saw Vinny post about it today on Twitter, and he said he likes it. Definitely made my day!

This game is great. I'm not very far in it but it feels good when you get the mechanics down. I'll probably play it here and there and finish it eventually.
