Reminder: Ghost Trick came out this year and is GOTY.

Everyone forgot this game exists apparently. Game was amazing, interesting and fresh. Totally deserves to, at least, be in consideration for it but I doubt it'll even get any love anywhere. :-(

Ah, Ghost Trick. The least obscure obscure-game this year. Where's the El Shaddai love? I feel as though I'm the only person talking about it, and it saddens me that I've only convinced two people to play the damn thing.

I don't play portables anymore, and that makes me kinda sad that I missed this game.

Yeah, its in my top three overall. As far as stories go, its probably the best game I've played all year.

Nah. Its gorgeous, but the backhalf of the plot just falls apart and the "ghost trick" mechanic doesn't get utilized well enough for it to not get repetitive.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that game. 2011 sucks, making a top 10 is impossible.

Radiant Historia is actually the best DS game of 2011. One of the best RPG's of the last 10 years in fact.

Ghost trick was a great game but radaint histroa was great as well. a lot fo good games in the first half of 2011 i plan on getting El shadai for christmans becasue that game looked awesome.

The only thing I'm really good at is remembering Ghost Trick came out this year.

Best DS game. Incredible story and fun gameplay. Lovable characters.

Missile should get best new character of the year.

Fantastic game, but not GOTY. Bastion, Arkham City and Skyrim are my personal choices.

Its probably the DS GOTY, I'll give it that.

I don't think so, the gameplay got super boring halfway through, they didn't do enough with the time mechanic, the end game was kinda dumb...

There's no way Giant Bomb is gonna give it GOTY. But i think it might be my personal one.

Ghost Trick was fantastic but I don't think it deserves goty.

Just because its a fresh of breath air and original, which is great and all, doesn't really mean it should be GOTY.

I would also like to remind people Okamiden came out this year.

It was pretty great. That ending totally got me.

Ghost Trick certainly deserves recognition, and will get it on my GOTY list. Probably not top 5, but top 10 easily. It's a pretty great game, although I did find the ending to be extremely sappy. You was the kitty cat all along!!!!! Also everything you did kind of doesn't matter.

Shouldn't it, though? Isn't that exactly why games like Portal win a lot of GotY awards?

For a game to be nominated for game of the year, I think there has to be SOME argument that the game is a breath of fresh air and original. So for example, I don't see any validity in nominating Killzone 3, Modern Warfare 3, Uncharted 3, Forza 4, or Assassin's Creed: Revelations, when all of those are basically the same as the previous game, only with minor incremental improvements.

So sure, there may be other games this year that were also original that deserve GotY awards more, but I wish that Ghost Trick would at least come up in discussions of games that are worth considering, even if it ultimately doesn't make the cut for anything besides Nintendo DS GotY.
