Reminder: Please avoid spoilers, especially in thread titles.

I just had to delete a thread that gave away a significant plot element from Borderlands 2. Thankfully I have already played through most of the game and I think I caught it before too many people saw it, but please be careful. Try and respect those who wish to experience every part of the story of this game for themselves and not read about it on some forum.

So, avoid giving away story elements or major surprise features of newly released games especially in your thread titles, this goes for blogs that are attached to the forums as well. In the body of posts, please use the site's built in spoiler tag feature where appropriate.

I always love spoilers in thread titles, especially when people put spoiler tags at the end, like it's going to help. "Darth Vader is Luke Skywalkers father! *spoilers*!"

I remember several topics giving away huge plot details about Red Dead Redemption like that. The story in Borderlands isn't exactly very important, but it's nice to see mods cracking down on this. Especially as some of us have to wait until Friday to play it..

Thank god that thread was removed. I'd been browsing the Borderlands 2 threads for an hour while waiting in line so I'm surprised and glad I missed that one.

The idea that people care about the plot of these games makes me chortle.

Holy hell the mods are anal about this one. The ability to change your appearance and respec is now considered a spoiler? Why are any posts about anything game related allowed to exist?

Its pretty much just MB but I agree it seems super ridiculous. Especially since there is a proper spoiler button to hide spoilery parts of the game. Its doubly funny considering I doubt most people are coming to BL2 for story anyways.

I agree with the sentiment, though isn't this the sort of thing best suited for general discussion rather than just the BL2 board?

Why is this in the bl2 forums? I know this has been happening there but I fell like this is general discussion information.

You locked a post because someone asked where they could respec stating that you couldn't respec for the first few hours so it was a spoiler. If you go down that road I don't see how you can let any topic exist that talks about anything that happens during the game at all. They were very open about the fact that you would be able to respec and modify your character's appearence so I really don't see how someone asking for help will ruin the game or spoil it for anyone. If someone really cares enough about not being spoiled that every minute detail must be hidden from them before they experience it I highly doubt the go anywhere near internet message boards before they've played a game.

I fully agree that spoilers should be left off the forums but know where to draw the line. If you have a valid reason as to why asking where you can respec justifies a thread being locked for being a spoiler I'm willing to listen and admit I was an asshat if I'm wrong.

There are guns in the game.
