Retro Game Collections: Tell us what you got/what you plan to get

So here lately all the duders at giant bomb have been showing off all the stuff they have been picking up (Ryan Davis: Famicom / Jeff:Turbo Graphix stuff / Everyone:old arcade cabinet stuff) and now they've went and gave me the itch... I have to have all the old stuff I loved when I was a kid...So even though there are tons of games coming up soon that I want to play (Luckily already pre-ordered X-COM:EU) I really want to start collecting Old Super Nintendo Games that I loved when I was a kid. Unfortunately when I left home my dad unloaded all my stuff and I no longer have the games that made my childhood so awesome. Up until now I haven't thought about it but seeing all the stuff The giant bomb crew boast about has got me excited...and since I have a lil extra income I thought it was about time I reclaimed my childhood starting with The SNES stuff...What I would like to do is find my favorites in open boxes so my kids can open them in the future and flip through the manual like I did when I was a kid...I want to collect but not be crazy.

My question to you...Do you have the itch...What would you like to collect...If you already collect what do you have(post pics of your collection).

Thanks...sorry if there is already a post about this stuff...

before i became unemployed i was starting quite the collection.sadly i didnt get far. as it stands now i have half a dozen SNES games and a few dozen N64 games along with a few gamecube games and PS2. when i was collecting i didnt get anything before the NES. i know there were consoles before it but it was the first console i ever had so i dont really have much interest in anything that came before it. hopefully i can start collecting again!

I can't collect stuff. I have a problem buying already used items, so this particular hobby would get pretty expensive for me, and fast. What I do regret is giving away and selling every computer and console I've ever had. I wish I saved all those Commodore 64 and Amiga games, I wish I never got rid of my Nintendo 64, and so on.

The only thing I have left is a sealed copy of Final Fantasy XII, and that...is pointless.

I need to get Pokemon Snap again. I love that game.

@SexyToad: i find i do that alot. ill see an old game from my past and snatch it up only to get home and play it and suddenly realize how awful it was. i got pokemon snap and was surprised how lame it was over ten years later.

Im planning on going down to London soon with some friends to try and find anywhere that might sell some retro stuff. Im always wanting to get some older games but I always end up leaving it when looking online, I think shopping properly I would get quite a few.

At the moment I have my Atari 2600 and NES for the most retro stuff. I really regret selling my Mega Drive years ago, so many good games and my favourite console I have owned.

I don't really purposely collect old games but I do have a ton of them back at my parents place. Especially NES games. I have over 100 cartridges in a tub back home. I also have quite a few SNES and Genesis games as well. Damn I wish I was close to home so I could dig out that stuff again.

I actually made a big list of my collection, along with comments on my memories and experience with them. I've probably spend over a grand on it in the last few months. I should probably stop that.

@Happenstance: Good luck, I personally haven't found a good place since Gamestation was bought out by GAME.

To answer the OP: I like collecting systems. I just bought a 3DO with 8 games, next on my list is a PC-FX. I think the best retro system I own would be the Sega Multi Mega. It's not boxed but is in perfect working condition. Played through the entirety of Snatcher on that thing not too long ago.

@dekkadekkadekka: Yeah I used to use the Gamestation in Oxford as it seemed to keep retro stuff a lot longer than some of the more local Gamestations. I did a quick google search the other day and I think there are a couple of retro specific stores in London so im hoping to go to them.

I have a shockingly good SNES collection considering it was all bought at car boot sales.

I still have all my stuff from childhood, and I never plan on getting rid of it. I was a Sega kid, so someday I'd like to get the Nintendo consoles and what I consider to be the important releases for each. I'd like to get everything with the boxes and manuals, which might take a while to accumulate, but it'll be worth it.

Last year I was this close to buying a SNES and a bunch of games for it. I then realized that I had no business doing so, so I figure that trying to fill the essential holes in my N64 Library is good enough.
