Luke Smith confirmed on NeoGAF that 30 people have been laid off.
Andrew Pfister has posted saying "thanks for supporting the podcasts" on 1UP's forums and GAF - meaning either he's been fired, the podcasts are gone, or both.
And this still leaves twenty-some people who've lost their jobs we don't even know about.
So they bought out 1UP Digital and they are discontinuing the EGM magazine? Because nowhere in that entire article did I read a single word about layoffs. It looked as though they are just moving the "publication" to the interwebz.
I would say we need a little bit more info to come out about all this before we start building this up into some crazy shit.

I couldn't see myself resubscribing to EGM once James Mielke took the reins from Dan Hsu, but now I won't even get the chance. I shoulda sniffed something was awry when they stopped publishing Hsu and Chan.
Do I get reimbursed for issues I'm not going to receive?

Much better. I was just pointing out mostly that the link that was provided gave no info of actual layoffs...just the sale of 1UP Digital to UGO. You, on the other hand, have provided actual links showing it.
Definitely a sad day when a long-running publication gets the axe (and yet Gamepro is still alive SOMEHOW). It's even worse when a damn fine digital network gets bought out.
its a shame but with all the "controversial" storys and BS 1up EGM and co have made over the last year + major staff members leaveing one after another untill you have podcasts like lan party... yeah... sigh..... BYE 1up network... its been fun.

I'm saying no, I sometimes subscribed between CGW and EGM. When CGW/GFW went online only, it took a lot of effort to switch my subscription to EGM. I'll be checking, I have 14 mags left, but I'm not expecting any returns.

The guy in charge of the podcast handling is presumed to be laid off with the GameVideos/1up Show crew. Things are not looking up.

Podcasts are all but confirmed to be gone. Pfister even has said there's "no time" for a giant farewell episode.

absolutely terrible news, Gamevideo's is going to shut down... 1up show is amazingly well produced, Broken Pixels also..... this is just pure 100 percent business, and 1up is going to suffer because of it....

Holy shit, this is the worst thing since Gerstmanngate. But... guess what? Gerstmanngate turned to Giant Bomb. Who is to say that these guys don't go off and do their own thing.

Losing the podcasts is ridiculous. That's why I joined that site, and why I stayed after the gamespot fiasco. Hopefully some of these people can start something at sorethumbs with Show and Crispin.
Fuck UGO. God I hate that more of this shit is happening, so many good people getting laid off over the last couple months, while I feel bad for all of them equally, 1up was always the top on my list for anything....so it's pretty much dead now. This fucking blows.
