Misleading headline. They've declared bankruptcy, yes, but as the article states, that doesn't mean Midway is over and done for. It certainly is not good news for them, but things *could* still turn around.
That is sad. Very sad actually. I hope the games don't disappear (they won't) and we can continue our business. Still, it is sad to see one of the oldest game publishers go down under. It's frustrating >:(
This sucks, I remember the old days playing the first Cruisn' and MK games. Oh well, lets hope a better developer takes over their best franchises and make good games from them.
Midway is not officially dead... they just have to restructure. Lots of companies that have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy have gotten out of it and returned to normalcy.
I thought Midway was going to fade away a la Circuit City, but this move assures Midway is safe for the time being.
This is pretty huge news. I can't believe that companies that have been around for so damn long are just disappearing off the face of the earth. My hopes are going out to another huge batch of people who have lost their jobs.
I havent cared for a mk game since mk2, but I hate to see all these companies going under. The dollar is on the verge of collapse and the new world order is on its way.
since when does bankrupt always mean they're done for? considering the whole economic stimulus crap, I doubt they'll actually tank-they're probably putting up systems to stop this
Goddamn, that game made me feel like a rebel, saving the youth from musical oppression and a lack of the world's greatest, most edgy and rebellious rock and roll band ever, AEROSMITH.
No big deal. If there were any decent people there, they'll just get hired by some other game company and perhaps get a chance to make a good game for once.
Anyone think Square Enix will take a run at them as well?
Actually, reviewing the article leads me to believe this is just a part of modern business practices. They will restructure and make cuts and be back in some other form in the future.

What you should be really saying is this: "The dude who bought Midway stocks for $100,000, in contrast to what they used to be worth [$30,000,000], is a genius." Staying on topic, Midway is not done, and they will continue to operate normally. For now.
