Ryan Davis Memorial New Balance shoes?

Hey guys,

This is totally on the level. I heard the crew of the Giant Bombcast talking about Ryan's custom New Balance shoes, and they made a joke about working with New Balance to make a memorial pair. Well, I have a good friend that works at New Balance, so I'm at least showing the idea to them.

I'm curious. Is there a transcript of the Giant Bombcast somewhere? They are asking for it.

The Giant Bomb crew is discussing Ryan’s decisiveness.

X: “Except for His custom new balance shoes. The ones that say baller time on them.”

Jeff Gerstman: “That’s right! You designed those, right?”

X: “Sort of. Sort of. We spend like two weeks going back and forth, going through all these colors, and I was like, well - what about this, what about that? And he’s just like, “Man, these are almost there.” These are like, they’re purple and yellow, and awesome. And then, he went to order them? And they came out white and blue. And I was like, what happened? And he’s like, I dunno? Baller time happened. I don’t know if he just decided to write baller time, and then just everything else made itself, you know.”

Jeff: “Yeah.”

X: “So, I still think I have the order sheet for his other custom New Balance shoes that we spent just many many go back and forths on. Those are the only times that I ever saw him without that conviction right away.”

Jeff: “You’ve got to sweat the details on this. “

X: “Totally. The important things about a life.”

Jeff: “So, we’re proud to announce a new sponsor.”

X: “If I had the motivation to do any work right now, I really wanted to have a third color scheme on Giant Bomb that was gonna be all of these new ballance sneakers, but like the amount of work to randomize tha, because he had so many. He had so many New Balance shoes. And I’m like, how do I pick one? How do I make it so when you press the New Balance button every time you load the site up you get a different color?”

Jeff: “Great Marketing Opportunity.”

X: “It is. They should sponsor the site.”

(Laughs)

Jeff: “He’s not wrong!”

That is the link I found on Ryan's twitter. This is the design he came up with and I believe the exact ones he ordered.

I know Ryan ended up going with his own design of sorts, but it seemed like @alexisg knew all of the details pretty well after having designed so many pairs for him. You should PM Alexis on the site and see if you could get the exact design. I'm pretty sure it was what Jake_WSPD linked, just with "Baller" embroidered on the left heel and "Time" on the right. I want to say that Tweet might have been from just a little before he bought them, since it sounded like the "Baller Time" addition was very last second.

At the very least i would love to see the sales numbers of how many "BALLER TIME" custom shoes have been sold in the past week.

White, Gold and dark blue appear to be the colors. thanks to @mrpope's twitter feed. Also BALLER TIME is in all caps which is fitting.

As much as we went back and forth on those color schemes I never took offense that he completely went awol and went with Baller Time. That whole creative process obviously lead to something awesome. When he walked in with those pair I figured he should just have my job now. I am trying to think of an episode where you could clearly see those shoes on his feet. It may have been the one where he ragged on me for having size 10s (in a pair of New Balance 556s), but not really sure.
