Someone on NeoGAF found a really great reference to Giant Bomb, and more specifically to Ryan Davis in the official Prima strategy guide for Wind Waker HD. On the page for Bomb Island is the subtitle "Hey, Everybody, It's Tuesday!":

It's a really awesome little tribute to Ryan, even if they do misquote him slightly.

Wow, really awesome. Nobody besides the bombcast-listeners will get that reference, but that makes it even better!

This is great. And tying it to Bomb Island is pretty clever.

That's a very heartwarming shout-out.

Huh. I'm honestly touched.

Way to go!

#7 Posted by Angouri (239 posts) -

Oh man. What am I going to do with this Giant Bomb-less version of the Prima Strategy Guide for Wind Waker for the gamecube? :/

That's pretty awesome though.

Does that have any context at all? It seems like a giant bomb reference for the sake of it, just because it said bomb.

Which I am totally down with!

It's Ryan's frequent opening podcast line.

@tennmuerti: I meant within the guide, not where the reference comes from.

Wow! That's pretty damn awesome.

I just now got the "Bomb Island" connection....

That's awesome and somehow sad at the same time.

Instead of "blow the boulder up" they should have wrote "See that boulder? DROP A BOMB ON IT!" but I guess that would have been too much.

Although his was "Hey, everyone, it's Tuesday!". Still, a very subtle, yet massively awesome, tribute.

Wow. I guess there is a Prima writer among us.

Whoever is responsible for that, I hope you know you're awesome.

While reading that I heard Ryan saying it. Very cool of them to do this.

Yeah, I definitely recall him using both. Don't know what all the 'misquote' stuff is about as him saying 'everybody' is pretty much ingrained in my head.

Yup. Another person saying Hey that's neat isn't going to add much. The only thing I could think of is how someone found this out to begin with. I honestly didn't realize they still made these let alone people bought them. The internet has all that stuff for free.

Funny enough, I don't think he ever really meant for it to be a signature thing. I think he just kind of started saying that naturally because he needed something to say to start the podcast. But, as other's have said, he used both "Everyone" and "Everybody". I personally feel like he said everybody more often.I even remember a few "hey, ya'll it's Tuesday"s.

I don't buy strategy guides anymore, but I will say I find something inexplicably enjoyable about having that thick ass tome of a strat guide for a good, long game (IE; a zelda or an elder scrolls) in my hands. There's something nostalgic about it, y'know?
