Should i get GTAIV

Hey guys!

I'm looking to buy GTAIV tommorow, as i had a blast playing it on xbox quite some time ago.
Heres my PC specs as of right now.

e7300 @ 2.7ghz
2GB DDR2
8600GT DDR3.
Winxp sp3

Im getting another 2 gigs of ram, and a 4850 soon as a graduation present. 
Im not looking to play it on super high ( obviously ), im just wanting to know if i will have a at least playable experience with it for now.

GTA4 on PC is broken

Buy the PS3 or 360 version

360 version is getting new stuff in febuary

Already have the 360 version. Always liked the GTA games on pc better though.
So what, is this game permanently broken, no chance of a patch?

PC version works great for me, and you've got a slightly better CPU than me.

It would better if you bought the PS3 or Xbox 360 version instead of on the PC.

Unless you prefer to play your games on the PC, of course.

Not a fan, only played a few hours and got really annoyed after the crashes. It got fixed slightly after the patch but its still buggy and very badly optimized.

Gta 4 is not a really good game in general... Gta:Sa was much better imo.

Yes apparently but its not that good dont trust the reviews they lie. You will see if you buy it wich I did and im very disapointed. Its not because of the performance btw because I can run this game very decently with my 

GTAIV on the PC will go down in history as the biggest console port to the PC to flop in a long time. We've had some bad ports in the history of PC gaming but the GTAIV one was utterly horrid. How they felt that game was worth releasing in that state was beyond me. Suggest you sit back and be patient for a patch to fix all the issues.

Well what options have you got turned up, and what res?
I don't mind playing it on low, because i have read that's what the console versions are running on and it looked amazing to me. ( could be wrong )

I agree with hamz the port was really bad but the game isnt good anyway. Theres nothing to do in the game other than mission and ur stupid friend calling you to play a crappy dart game.

Planter, i suggest you find a different game if you hate doing missions. Play the Sims or a RPG if you wanna level up stats etc.
GTAIV is a criminal game, not a dress up sim. I'm not asking for opinions on the game, just asking for a technical perspective on it.
Anyway, by the sounds of it the port was horrible. Will be getting Bioshock instead and look into GTAIV sometime later.

GTA 4 is a CPU intensive game...and from what I have reading it performs better on nvidia cards.

with your future set up it should run fine ... although you might have to tweak some settings to avoid crash ... (vist gta4forums.com for tips).

Gta4 did do some good things like euphoria and the city really feels alive but theres not much fun to have in those city.They cut alot of the content that was in Gta:Sa that was fun for me, like buying propreties,upgrading cars, airplanes, Huge map with 3 citys and the fact that you could increase your skill in weapons and stuff. The story isnt bad but most mission is all the same. I couldnt recomend that game.
