Just got through watching VJ. Is it worth it to go back and watch BR?
Should I watch BR-Deadly Premonitoon ER?
As someone who watched them as they went up, I would say give it a break for a bit, and then watch them. It's funny how differently those guys reacted or didn't react to certain things. It's also interesting to see when they miss certain mechanics or interpret things differently than Vinny and Jeff. Brad's low tolerance for the "quality" of the game is off putting to some, I'm sure.
I enjoyed both playthroughs, although mostly because I like seeing people react to crazy things.
Also, if you want to see the game in its entirety (with all the side missions and secrets), you might want to check out the Deadly Premonition Let's Play made by a guy named Supergreatfriend. He does a really good job organizing and presenting the material efficiently, so as not to do a ton of backtracking to fit everything in.
I finished the VJ version a couple of weeks ago and went straight into the BR and finished watching it just a minute ago.
I really wanted to watch it to see their differing opinions/playstyles/etc. The BR is decent, though I think I prefer VJ because it got real tedious watching Brad die and complain all the time whereas Vinny and Jeff just played the game and had a good laugh with it.
It's OK, they definately care more about it in the end than Jeff, who would not get it done fast enough because he had E3 preparations.
The first few chapters are PAINFUL to watch though, as you can clearly tell Brad would rather be in hell than help Agent York. If I remember correctly, it's only in the 2nd or 3rd episode or so that he says something along the lines of "Oh god why do I have to play this awful game". Wow, couldn't keep the enthusiasm up for long could you? I'd understand if it was 20 hours in and there was a shitty long dungeon.
VJ is more funny, BR is more entertaining (you'll see what I mean when they come to the hallway monsters)
I think the Deadly Premonition ERs are best viewed concurrently. One of the best parts of watching them as they went up was seeing how differently they reacted to the same things and how much better or worse they were playing. I'm not sure watching just one ER by itself after the other is as good as watching them both. Maybe wait a while then rewatch the VJ one and watch the BR one at the same time. I think I'll rewatch them when the Director's Cut of Deadly Premonition comes out.
Ryan's reactions to the game make it soo awesome to watch. He was more into the story than the other 3 combined.
I found the BR one to be very frustrating at times, and not nearly as entertaining as the VJ one, but overall it was fine.
BR is definitely worth watching. They run into some crazy things that VJ don't and they end up with more "enthusiasm" for the game by the end of it. They have some slow and painful moments but they're worth strolling through.
I was hesitant to watch their run at first myself but ended up loving it just as much as VJ's run.
My most fond memory of the BR run was Ryan's exasperation with Brad at various points throughout the game, especially during the wall-crawly ladies.
"The reloading is slow, and you're kind of slow, so it's a bad combination."
wait a month, then do it.
Unless you actually wanna do it and just started this thread for shits and giggles and you don't really care what anyone tells you to do :P
