Thank you. This is very needed.

There's a "PM Authors" button? I havn't seen any.

#4 Posted by Hamz (6846 posts) -
@eroticfishcake: Open a guide, on the top left there is an icon of a envelope with a green arrow on it, beside it in grey text (that doesn't show up too well on black background) it says "PM Authors".
#5 Posted by gingertastic_10 (4141 posts) -

Very well done. Hopefully this will help new users.

#6 Posted by eroticfishcake (7782 posts) -
@Hamz: Ah I see it now. Thanks. But yeah it's little hard to see. Maybe changing the font's colour to white might help.

@Hamz: I do have a question. After looking at the mod list, I see that Wafflestomp isn't on there and either is Mr. Jared. What are their roles as moderators?
#8 Posted by Hamz (6846 posts) -
@gingertastic_10: Best phrase I can use is honorary moderators. They shouldn't be contacted about issues you have around the site :)
#9 Posted by gingertastic_10 (4141 posts) -
@Hamz: OK thanks. Now I know :)
#10 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -

I've updated the post with "PM All" links so you don't have to hunt it down on the guides pages.

#11 Posted by Pie (7035 posts) -

That "PM all mods" will come in handy...

#12 Posted by Karmum (11516 posts) -

PM All feature is pretty nifty, albeit individuals ones would be nice too. o_o

#13 Posted by natetodamax (19167 posts) -

Hopefully this will stop the string of new users who refuse to read up on the rules.

#14 Posted by AgentofChaos (1565 posts) -

This is good to have.

#15 Posted by mracoon (4947 posts) -

Nice.

Thanks y'all. Very clear.

About time we have something like this.     This is a great addition though.  I hope all the new members check this out.

EDIT:  I just thought of something.  Why don't we have mods that are both forum and wiki mods?  I noticed over at AnimeVice they have 5 mods that do both.  Is there a reason for not having mods that can do both or, do you guys just don't want to?

#22 Posted by AjayRaz (12416 posts) -

this is great, thanks. this will be very handy for our new users, especially the "PM all'

All forum mods can also mod the wiki. They just generally aren't the ones to talk to regarding wiki issues

@Hamz:
I do like this addition. Good job with streamlining this and making the "PM All" feature included.

However, on your forum rules, you state,"Blog posts are subject to all of the above."

This is certainly true but doesn't this only apply to blogs posted on the forums? For instance, I know you shouldn't have any form of discriminatory or hateful material anywhere but you are allowed to do a "spam" of sorts, that is linking other material without commentary without any form of consequence. I am accurate with at least some of what I am saying, right?
#26 Posted by Gearhead (2251 posts) -

Nice job, much needed.
I kind of wish though that the moderators(WHO ARE ALL FUCKING AWESOME) would sometimes be quicker in locking down certain threads, espeically in recent days the "What does your shit smell like," or "My girlfriend does not want to have sex," threads.

As Lies did mention every forum moderator on this site has the ability to deal with wiki issues just like our dedicated team of wiki mods does. When the site launched there was much need to keep a larger portion of the moderation team focused solely on the wiki with the 90,000+ submissions that were desperately needing accepted/denied. So a dedicated team of wiki mods was finely tuned and created while a much smaller team handled the general forum and day-to-day running of the community. Obviously it may change as the site evolves and we re-evaluate things :)

Technically any content you post in your blog should stick to the rules stated in that guide. Regardless of whether or not the blog is posted just to your profile or to the forum as well. However concessions are likely and obviously to be made such as the example you pointed out above. We're likely less inclined to delete a blog posted just to a profile which has some silly youtube video on it.

@Everyone - I'm a overjoyed to see folks think this is a great idea, we're glad this little 'hub' topic has made it easier for you all to locate the rules and contact the mods. However does no one remember the 'Defusing the Bomb' sticky we had up for around a year? :(

I think as far as we are all concerned, you can spam your own profile and blog up with as much nonsense as you want as long as it isn't stuff like porn, hate speech, or something otherwise illegal or prohibited. It's when you start opting to attach those spam blogs to the forums that they become an issue.

See this tutorial for instructions on how to better manage your blog posts and attaching them to the proper forums, or keeping them restricted to your blog only.

Have these always been the forum rules?

#30 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -
@Snail: Basically - they've been similar to this for quite a while, we've just updated a few, simplified things and changed the format in this update.
#31 Posted by Snail (8574 posts) -
@TheBeast: I think I remember them being more liberal. Maybe I'm wrong.
#32 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -
@Snail: They weren't any more liberal, at least not in how they were enforced, the way the rules were expressed were probably just less elaborated and not quite as clear.
#33 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -
@Hamz: @MB: Sounds good to me.
#34 Posted by Karmum (11516 posts) -

Pft, restrictions and rules are for chumps! Skip school, disregard the rules, and do drugs! That's what the kool kids like Jayge and I do!

E-flex.

Silly socialistic moderators!

jpgs?
#38 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -
@zkillz: GB converts images to jpgs when they're uploaded. Not much we can do about the artifacting except for host them somewhere else - it just seems sensible to keep them hosted here.
#39 Posted by zkillz (93 posts) -
@TheBeast:
ok that makes sense, sorry about the callous comment
#40 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -

Fixed the PM All link - looks like the devs missed a few things in the update.

I'm just commenting to put this on the front page in case anyone is joining and they are to lazy to click on the Forum link.

Did you read it? What we did was eliminate the difference between wiki-only mods and forum mods. There is now one class of moderator and we all have the same authority and tools at our disposal.

@Sweep: If ZombiePie wants to mention it in the Community Spotlight, he can.  But we are not going to mention it in the main post on this thread.
#48 Posted by ZombiePie (5561 posts) -
@CitizenKane: @MB: I would like to mention that I feel uneasy about showcasing that guide and question its effectiveness. However it was nominated legitimately and I no longer believe in vetoing user nominations.
