With the release of the Sky Player for Xbox later today, and I am interested to see what other Brits think of it. Is there really a point, since the chances are you have sky on the same TV? For me it depends on the choice of movies and TV series available on - demand - a Netflix-like service on this side of the pond would be excellent and long overdue. Also, I only have around 5.5 Mb/sec connection, my personal viewing experience may be sorely compromised.
So what have ben your experiences with it thus far?
Sky Player on Xbox 360
i'd heard on radio one its not launched- or has had problems, just got home from work and turned on 360, i have no update :\ any word on when it's due?
I have Sky at home already. The only real advantage for me is being able to watch while I'm working if need be. I can take my harddrive into my studio and not miss anything important now. I hope.
I'm a uni student, getting actual sky isn't an option, I imagine alot of other students think the same, it all depends on what it does though for me to pay.
" I can't find it, how do I actually use Sky on the 360 then? "My guess is they're going to launch an update, which will ad it to the menu, like the American Netflix one, although if you google sky player 360 it says there have been some problems so they might not have a time out for that update, could even be tomorrow if it's bad.
" i'd heard on radio one its not launched- or has had problems, just got home from work and turned on 360, i have no update :\ any word on when it's due? "They released it this morning but it kept on breaking down, probably because of too many people trying to use it. Im just gonna use it for the news me thinks

" @Pie said: Furry muff How do you actually access it though? i see nothing at all on my 360 "This morning it was on the spotlight tab and video marketplace tab. When you press it it tells you what you need to do to use it such as having a gold account and you have to be a sky subscriber. You then enter your username and password (sky id)It kept on breaking whenever I submitted my username and password so I left it for a while only to see them take it down
It's far too expensive for the standard packages, but if you're already a Sky subscriber it might be useful. I personally plan on making use of the On Demand features occasionally, but as I'm sure others have said there really should be some kind of pay-per-view system as well, at least for movies and sports matches.
The option to download it was added this morning then pulled due to many users getting a error message. i managed to get the player but it does not work as there is no menu for it :(
