I'm new to GB having only discovered the podcast a couple months ago. Up till now i assumed that Ryan was the bossman but I could be wrong. Is there essentially a "pecking order" in the GB team? or is everyone equal (for want of a better word).

though maybe that picture shouldn't be dissected, there are too many strange things about it that if we were to understand it fully it would probably signify that Jeff is in the Illuminati or something.

@Adrian79 I think Jeff has the title of Assignment Editor or somesuch, which means that he decides who reviews what and who goes where. So at least nominally he's the head of the pyramid wih Ryan as his majordomo. Not working at GB, I can only say that it seems like most things are done on the basis of consensus.

I don't doubt there is some sort of hierarchy, just for CBSi's purposes. At the top of that pyramid is obviously Jeff, with Ryan a step lower, considering they are co-founders of Giant Bomb. But then it would seem to me like Vinny and Drew are on some separate thing. I really don't know how it all works though, and I doubt the whole crew really cares overall.

Jeff is up top. In the case of Jeff getting abducted by aliens or kidnapped and sent to Guatemala then Papa Bear Davis is next in line. Ryan gets Narc'd on and sent to prison then (and here's where I lose all knowledge and just start to assume) Brad takes over. When Brad is called upon to go save a hostage from a plane, then Vinny and Patrick just play more Sleeping Dogs.
Behind all of this though Drew and Dave are just the master puppeteers.

The CBSi overlords are at the top. Below that, Dave is the head of the tech side/engineering with Jeff as the head of content/editorial. Below that is Alexis and Ryan and below that is the rest.

In terms of the strict organisational chart, silly corporates love shit like that - I would doubt Ryan is above the other editors. He might have been in on whiskey since the start but I never got the impression he had any of his own money in it.
I see it, now at CBS, as three departments. Design, where Dave is over Alexis. Production, where Vinny is over Drew. Editorial, where Jeff is over all the other equals.
I imagine Jeff could fire anyone in production and editorial - or at least the VP would on his say so. GB was always founded off his rep.

Jeff's life is all out there on the internet, and we thank him for it! In other news, according to one Ryan Davis, Jeff has a new car now too. Another piece to Jeff's life to add to the puzzle.

I remember Vinny hosting the HotSpot for a little while, I wonder if he just didn't want to host the Bombcast or if Ryan just really wanted to or what. Anybody know?

As far as importance IMO:
I personally think Vinny is probably the most important part of the site, partly due to his actual work, but a lot due to his personality. It'd be a hell of a lot more dull without him. I feel like he sort of keeps everyone smiling.
Drew helming a majority of the video production (with Vinny barking orders and his direction). Being a video-focused site, this is obviously huge. Drew also seems to be the one that lights fires under everybody's asses and is the most rational and "cool" of the crew.
The site wouldn't exist without Dave, and wouldn't run without him either. Obviously important...
Jeff is a huge personality on the site, goes to all of the meetings, and plays a lot of games. He's the videogame historian of the bunch, which is very important to a wiki-based site like this.
Ryan runs all of the big programs, such as the big live live show live, the Bombcast and all of the other stuff. He's a solid MC and a good reviewer as well.
Brad is a doofus, but undeniably likable. Probably does the most reviews of anybody on the west side of the Mississippi (Alex being #1).
Alexis make a pretty site, he just needs to be a little quicker with it.
Patrick definitely has been a huge part of this site, easily writing more words than any other member of the crew. But i feel as though people don't come to GB for editorials, but rather for stupid videos with a hint of videogames in them. That's why he's way down here. Does great work though...

CBSi owns the website. Jeff is technically the boss, but as far as I can tell he doesn't actually give orders or whatever. Maybe he does say some stuff behind the scenes, but nothing like "BRAD! Where the fuck is my goddamn coffee!?"
Well, again, I don't think so. It's entirely possible that it's all a ruse and they're all his slaves under constant fear of death.
