I actually talked to Vinny about it, and he told me he was totally OK with not having to host. It takes a lot of work to move conversations along in a way that feels natural and not having to worry about that took a huge pressure off his shoulders. Hopefully that answers your question :).

Wasn't that only after Jeff and Ryan were gone though? Or am I misremembering?

The Bombcast also evolved from the Arrow Pointing Down podcast, which was Ryan's thing. I guess it sort of stayed that way.

@Adrian79: Yea Jeff is on top. Ryan is in charge of the Bombcast. Dave is in charge of the code. Vinny is in charge of the video editing and shooting. Patrick is head of news. Alex (who works from New York), Brad, Alexis (The other code guy), and Drew aren't in charge of anything.

This site is Jeff's baby and was born out of the whole Gamespot Kane and Lynch fiasco. I've been following this site since the beginning and what i can tell is that all the team members seem to contribute based on what their strengths are and what is needed for the site. They seem to be very democratic in how the work is done and who does what on the editorial / content side. Dave and Jeff seem to have the most clout as far as the back end of the site and the overall design are concerned. Also whenever they talk about meetings between Giantbomb and other entities like Whiskey or CBSI or whatever it seems like its always Jeff thats on the hook for that.

To answer seriously, I don't think it really works the way you guys are trying to make it work. If you want to be technical about it Jeff is editor in chief essentially making him the boss, but they are all friends and respect each other and work side by side. At least that's they way I think about it.

Jeff does a great job at being just part of the crew, that I've honestly never thought of GB as a hierarchy.

Obviously Jeff is the leader of the clan. Ryan is in waiting for his chance to seize the reigns and lead the organization. Brad is the loyal stooge that would follow anyone and the others are loyal subjects under the umbrella of Jeff.

Like others have said, it's Jeff, but in these videos it's pretty clear that they operate on a more Valve-like system. Every now and then you get Jeff telling people to review things, but in most cases (and this happened with Arkham City), a game comes in and it goes to whoever wants to review it.

When I first came to the site, I figured Jeff was in charge of the Giant Bomb side of things, but I also remember the first time I'd seen any of the Whiskey behind-the-scenes staff I ended up convincing myself that Dave was the overall bossman. I don't remember why I thought that, maybe he just sounded authoritative. I didn't hold that view for too long, but it was definitely more than a fleeting thought.

actually i have a couple vids that leave me with the impression that vinny is higher on the ladder then ryan, granted these are from the old office but still

Ryan often takes charge in certain situations, such as presenting live shows or the podcasts, but really there is no pecking order, all the editors are equal.

In order of highest ranking to lowest:

4. Brad Shoemaker's future hellspawn or daughter (if he decides not to procreate, there is a much larger problem, possibly movie script worthy.)
