I remember that I watched it when it aired and promptly flipped out about Perfect Dark Zero. I still don't think that game got a fair shake. It doesn't hold up now days for sure but at launch it was a great game IMO.

Nothing will top the sheer Lynchian twist of 599 US Dollars.

Man, I remember watching this...weird to think that i got as much info skimming through that video now as I did watching the broadcast in its entirety eight years ago.

Also, culture hasn't changed much since '05. MTV was, even at that time, a dead network that only appealed to the most mindless pregnant teens and sorority girls. Abercrombie and American Eagle and Aeropostle and American Apparel are still the default jailbaity look for trendy youth, today. Hipster indie rock bands with fake European 80's style revival (or accents) that combine the "band you never heard of unless your DEEP and artsy" credibility with the sell-out-the-arena shameless promotability of mainstream Hard Rock bands. The European movie washed out unsaturated pastel colors, the notion of tattoos being for kids to "express themselves" rather than Harley Dads to scare black people. The times havent changed like they did from the Surfer Cut, flamnel shirt, Extreme marketing of e 1990's. Yeah, it was Daft Ounk rather than Skrillex, The Killers instead of... Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse instead of Gotye. But culture is pretty much still the same.

Whatever, nothing will top Sony's E3 reveal in '06 for sheer entertainment value.

Is that a thing? Because I just think "the year 200? wtf?" (then my mind iterates through 1200, 2200 and only then realises wtf is going on).

I prefer "the early 2000s" or, if you must, "Mid 200Xs" - but w/e.

Update on that rewatch: Oh my god that video was some seriously concentrated deja vu . Perhaps most telling is I realised how much I still like The Killers from that era and even 1, 2, Step by Ciara. Music from back then is still good, yo!
