Now, i dont know what is happening. Can i even resubscribe? and am i still paying 50$ for just 2 sites now? I read Dave's thing but i feel like its still not very clear.
Sooo my subscription expired.
Monthly subscriptions, expire monthly so i'd hate to have to see this thread on a monthly basis. So i'd say pay $50 or don't, thanks!
@Hailinel: They have postponed the subscription model and will be coming back to it and your time remaining will start off where it was when they switched to bermanbraun.

Dude, who knows what the fuck is going on with Tested. Their top stories have around 5 comments each. Kind of a sad thing to see, hope they can prove the doubters wrong and turn things around.

Well, let's be optimistic. If Adam and Jaime decide that Tested was a horrible failure and Will and Norm are out of a job, they can work at Cnet and talk about gadget porn there and it can all come around in some sort of "Snake eating its own tail" way.

But I thought they didn't want to talk about gadgets anymore, they wanted to talk about science. And that was the best thing to ever happen to them, etc. etc.

They said repeatedly they wanted to still do the things they already did, but new stuff as well. Apparently there were several occasions over the last 2 years where Will and Norm had absolutely nothing to do. No news to write up, no new tech to review etc.
Regarding subscriptions, apparently over 90% of all subs came from Giantbomb anyway so they've kept them.

It's really weird because the articles on tested have never been this good. Seriously. Will, Norm, and Wesley have been pumping out amazing content - much better than when their site just used to be about tech gear.
Mine's about to expire soon. I'll go monthly this time. You end up paying more, but cashing $50 up front again seems a bit thougher this time around. $5 a month is reasonable and I still get access to all the premium content.
I only wish I could pay half of that just for Giant Bomb, because, seriously, fuck Sara Lima. Tony's alright, though.
@JoeyRavn: I agree. I'm not really interested in Comic Vine and not a fan of Sara, and on a limited budget I would prefer to pay less for just GB stuff.

So does this mean my subscription won't run out at all, assuming they never pick up the model again? I can't see it being too likely to work out that way, but I figured it might be worth asking. I'll get all my Premium time back though once they choose to come back for their model or whatever though? Seems very fair. I like the sound of that.
What's wrong with Sara? I find Tony to be so awkward and hard to watch I just avoid his stuff. He's even awkward in casual things like the footage from Dave's house during the transition.I only wish I could pay half of that just for Giant Bomb, because, seriously, fuck Sara Lima. Tony's alright, though.
As for subscriptions, I won't be resubbing.

You probably never talked with her. She's no better than the average Comic Vine user: extremely rude, annoying and selfish. Don't ever dare to say something she disagrees with. And this is coming from someone who's doing his PhD on comic books, so it's not that I have anything against the industry...
But, hey, things are the way things are. I'll gladly pay $5 per month, just like I paid $50 a year ago, to support Giant Bomb, and completely forget about Comic Vine.

Yeah, it's bizarre to me that people seem to have a problem with Sara. She seems much more comfortable in videos than the other guy.
Ditto I didn't know anyone had problems with Sara. She seems fine if only for the fact that all her clothes highlight her bust but that of course is not the only reason I sometimes go to Comic Vine!

No I've never talked to her, because I have no reason to be random internet dude #40235 and bother her.. She's fine as a host personality from what I've seen though.@Matfei90 said:

I blame the RSS feed disappearance. With the exception of Giant Bomb and another site that I visit throughout the day I get all my website updates through Google Reader. If I don't see site updates there, I forget to check them out. I know that not everyone gets their news and blog posts this way, but I bet I'm not the only one.
Can anyone tell me if having a subscription will allow me to download Jeff's dude with a jar videos? *Download for offline viewing.
They give good insights in the business and function well as background noise while gaming. tbh Its probably the only premium content i would actually watch.
Are people still worried about Giantbomb's future with CBSi? I think all the videos and bombcasts that have come out over the last 2 weeks are more then enough to prove that everything is going to be fine. Besides I'm sure by now the higher ups at CBSi should know that GB is GB because of the crew and what they out on it. I don't think they are just going to start changing content and fireing the guys, bucause if thay do they will start to lose the community and then all the monsy they spent to buy Giantbomb would be wasted.
I'd wait a month or two. Doesn't seem like much benefit to being a subscriber right now. Nobody seems to have the time to do any subscriber content.
@Andorski said:
@Questionable: Yup. All videos are downloadable. You can even set it up so that you receive all the videos via podcast.
Cheers, just what i needed to know.

Not worried, just don't see the point in giving money when they are now part of a hundred million dollar corporation, I actually find it a little jarring they are still doing premium content.
i think it would be ok if they cut the price down to 35$. we're missing two sites now and GB is now part of a big corporation. and i think more people would jump on the bombtrain if it were a bit cheaper. (as a foreigner, i will never use the store credit or stuff like that. a shirt (complete with shipping and all) costs me almost 30€. so, no.)
I was so close to subscribing back before it was announced they were bought by CBSi. Now, I'm on the fence waiting to see what happens with it all. I want to subscribe to watch some Random PC games, Jeff's Jar Time videos, and other premium members vids, but right now I'm letting all the dust settle from their move to see what happens with it all.

Well the point I see in still giving them money is to still support them. Yes they are now part of an hundred million doller corporation that can give them the money they need to do what they need to do. But that only goes so far. Knowing them they don't always want to depend on CBSi to give them the money they need, and thats where we come in. With the money we give them though our memberships they have more money to do more dumb stuff like The Big Live Live Show or the all day SNES party. Jeff even said in the We think Mondays are A-Ok video that he was trying to be cost effective with the stuff he needed to buy so he wouldn't be spending a crap load of money to get GiantBomb up and running again, so our money goes to stuff like that as well. This is how I see it at least.

I really don't see why they need subscriber money to hook up a NES to a TV and sit on a couch playing it for a few hours.
I guess I just place more value on spending money on my real life instead of a gaming website. I'm very stingy on even buying games on release now, they take the backseat to other things I have going on.

I think it would be fine if they did what most sites do which is give bonuses for paid membership. At this point putting actual content behind paid-membership money walls seems like a crappy thing to do especially to the people that contributed in the past with the notion that they are supporting them financially in a time where they needed it. I view this move to CBS as them "making it" so to speak - because how much higher can they go from this point? They are part of a huge multimedia family. Now that they "made it" it's a great time to give back to the users that supported them right? Oh wait, everything is staying the way it is, except the only other main site people went to which was TESTED is now gone. The membership which was invented to help keep the site financially afloat does not change in price, but the content has diminished by roughly 50%. Not to mention that if you were a pay-by-month user then March was a complete waste of money for you as during the move there was very little content all around. Before when you would say "well GameTrailers doesn't ask you to pay anything and they have HD videos for viewing and download as well as podcasts and a variety of weekly shows" the answer was "Giantbomb is just a small site." Now GB is part of a company as big as the one that owns GameTrailers, which is Viacom if I'm not mistaken. So it just seems silly, but hey it makes money and plenty of people, probably including me, will keep on paying it because there is no other alternative if I want to watch the premium content they put out.

I think you're all missing the point. Hope this video can help
Giant Bomb subscribers are what made GB sexhy to potential investors. They proved they could make subscriptions work because of the quality of what they do.
I think of it as a magazine subscription. A pretty cheap subscription really with great articles, video, a pretty awesome database, etc. etc. For me, it's more than worth the price.
And you know, apparently hooking up a console to a TV and filming it is actually pretty hard. Really hard. Have you seen "regular" people doing it over on youtube? It must take a PhD or something because 99.9% of those videos are just terrible. Unwatchable junk.
