Street Fighter 4 Tier Rankings!

These are the rankings for Street Fighter 4. Now, it doesn't mean, that it will be easier playing with a higher tier character. It all depends on you playing style. Someone could own you with Vega, even if he is the lowest tier character, if  they know how to play well enough.

Mmmm... pretty interesting. I just want to play the game already.

My buddy told me about when he was playing SF4 in the arcade and he noticed Sagat was really good, basically everybody wanted to use him.  I really want to play the game now.

Looks like Dhalsim and Blanka are right about where they should be.  Good to know.  = D  Those are usually the characters I rocked on SFII.

As ridiculous as this sounds I hate hate hate reducing fighting games to spreadsheets and numbers (Yes, I understand that is ultimately every game.) There have always been something about fighting games that seemed so pure to me. The ultimate skill game where the end result is an extension of the ability of the player.

Its like a warhammer and a longsword, in the hands of the right person both are equal killing machines.

But no, the kids have to ruin it, with spread sheets and numbers.

I was confused for a second, but then I noticed the top bar is off by one.

Street Fighter has been like this for over a decade now.  Where have YOU been?"

I haven't played much Street Fighter, but is anyone else surprised to see such a difference between Ken and Ryu? Can someone please explain why there's such a gap?

Guys, before starting a fight and trying to analyze the rankings............... The table in the original thread is wrong. The first row (the green one) has to shift one cell to the right. Check Ruy VS. Ruy for example and you'll understand. It has to be (-) but it says (5)

I didn't make this list. It's based on results from pro players playing on the Japanese arcade machines.

I love spreadsheets, they make me laugh a little.  I always picture two people playing next to each other, one guy wins and the other guys freaks out and says something along the lines of "WTF MAN? HOW THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THAT!?, THE SPREADSHEET CLEARLY SHOWS I HAD THE ADVANTAGE!!! WTF!"

I personally just enjoy playing the game,I think tiers are funny, but only amount to tourny players, or people who think theyre elite in the comfort of their own home. Reminds me of the whole OMG WHOS BETTER IN SSBB!!.

Oh well, Im the guy who enjoys playing people like Olimar in SSBB, and Chung Li and Akuma in street fighter, and who WOULD have enjoyed playing King in the new KoF, but they didn't include her ( ITS STILL NOT TO LATE!) so take my comments with a grain of salt... or pepper, your preferance.

I'd love to know how they determined this. When I was in Japan getting my ass handed to me, I lost to just about every character. I agree with others that it doesn't really matter about the character but the skill of the player. I believe Sagat is the hardest to learn, but for me Zangief is a deadly mo-fo...I was using C. Viper, who in my opinion is the best of the new fighters.

Sagat has always been top tier in all the games.

That's not exactly a good judgement of the characters because these people are mostly reviewers and lots of reviewers straight up suck.  That and the fact that it's new and vega could possibly be a harder character to use but one you understand it he (or she?) becomes the potentially strongest character there

And the fact that ken is so far from ryu is very weird.  aren't they clone characters basically?

In all honesty I don't think much of fighting game tiers and I feel that overall they do more harm than good in that they encourage the younger set to continue to cling to a small group of those considered "top tier" which makes watching and playing in the arcade a rather dull affair. Then there's the fact that they're rarely a very accurate indication of reality as I see tiers of many fighting game rocket all over the place when a good player decided to devote his time to a "low tier" character and ends up destroying everyone with it thus destroying the credibility of the tier system.

Even with SFIV I've seen long nights of combat in which a good Guile or Dhalsim player has come in and played a fairly unstoppable game for quite a long period of time. Tiers are a cute thing to look at and play with and people seem to enjoy to argue over them ad nausem -- but in the end they're not going to dissuade me or anybody that I've even known from trying to do their best with the character they find to be interesting.

Falconar, please calm down. You don't know everything.

Smug, Ken and Ryu have the same moves, but they perform them at different speeds, and the range of their attacks differs.
