While I was in the Dallas area for QuakeCon last week, I was lucky enough to swing by the Gearbox offices in their lofty place atop a Plano highrise. Primarily, I was there to see Borderlands, which is looking great but which I'm otherwise bound not to talk about for a couple of weeks here.

Anyway, since Jeff just spoke to the company's president Randy Pitchford on that neat-looking game in the recent past, I figured I'd use my interview time to investigate another subject I'd heard tales about: the nostalgic excellence of Pitchford's office. Embark on a little video tour, won't you?

Note: Any game developers out there who think they have a cooler office, I'd love to see pictures!

I think that Kotaku just ran a few stories about developer's desks, Tim Schafer included, but that was definitely boss.

The preview picture is already great.

I'd post pics of my shitty desk from inside the "vault" aka james cameron's Avatar at Ubisoft Montreal, but as our nickname to the production floor indicates, it's a very secret place :/ (blame FOX).

Giant Bomb Cribs: Randy Pitchford Edition.  Awesome video Brad, good to see that the dudes at Gearbox are working at a dope office space.

Anyone else hate 'funnest' ?

I keep hearing it and it's always sounded wrong to me.

I can't wait for Borderlands either, Randy.  Sweet office.  I wish I still had all of my old consoles and games :(

#28 Posted by DerekDanahy (870 posts) -

That dude has got it made, RESPECT!

#29 Posted by Video_Game_King (36566 posts) -

Crap! Why'd you film the part about him turning his desk to the window? Now every office job is going to adopt this practice! As if cubicles didn't destroy dignity enough...*grr*

#30 Posted by wrecks (2435 posts) -

I'll buy Borderlands just because of that office.

#31 Posted by Phished0ne (2665 posts) -

The only person to proudly display a sega saturn...and i applaud him for that.

Just the PC version (which is the better version because of the multiplayer :D).
#40 Posted by Aas (623 posts) -

Is it wrong to mastrubate to this?

#41 Posted by RoyaleWifCheese (569 posts) -

I know where that is. Didn't know he was on the thirteenth floor.

#42 Edited by Fbomb (1173 posts) -

Beats my office... but no multiple monitors?? You're crazy! Everything else is awesome, but a single monitor gets a thumbs down. I hate flipping through open programs constantly when getting work done.

#43 Posted by Valke (78 posts) -

I love how giddy he got when he started talking about Borderlands. Anytime the head of a studio gets that genuinely excited about a game, you have to give him props. Also, I wonder where he got those stands his systems are on...

#44 Posted by Scratch (647 posts) -

That was pretty sweet.

#45 Posted by Cube (4382 posts) -

Not only is his office kickass, it's really great to see that he's so excited about Borderlands. The game looks stellar and it helps knowing he's genuinely pumped about it, but not in a Cliffy B way. Refreshing.

#46 Posted by ToxicFruit (1890 posts) -

That is one amazing office and that man is my new hero
BUT
We all know that the future Giant Bomb office will be much MUCH better than this

#47 Posted by PeasForFees (2415 posts) -

Need new BIA

#48 Posted by MetalGearSunny (7466 posts) -

Sweet.

#49 Posted by mad4it89 (123 posts) -

#50 Posted by SoulEdgeSlayer (547 posts) -

I really don't know much about Mr. Pitchford, but he seems like a great guy.
