I pick C BTW.
EDIT: OOPS! I didn't type an "s" in the topic title.
The best Star War game to date is
While I prefer X-Wing, Tie Fighter had better production values, but it's not the best Star War game to date. That game is Jedi Knight II - with the realistic saber mode enabled of course.
This depends on what you want from a Star War game however; since Battlefront II is a pretty damn good time and lets you fart around as people and in vehicles (including Hoth), but it sucks if you're only left with bots - which is probably what you'll be if you play it now.
Republic Commando is up there as well, although it's a bit clunky at times.
I could have put KOTOR 2 up there but I figure most like the first one better.
" @LordMaiden said:My first one. I'm a noob at polls." Honestly, I forgot about JK 2 and I think Battlefront is second rate to the first three I listed. My opinion, of course. "sometimes a good poll should have choices that aren't just the creator's opinion "
" Battlefront 2? "I was going to say that but then I saw KOTOR and I remembered that KOTOR is my most favorite game of any genre, I personally feel Battlefront 1 was better, 2 got a little too insane with the jedi, space battles and weapon unlocks, it was a ton of fun though.
When you think about it... Star Wars has spawned some pretty fucking good games (Note: Rogue Squadron 2 is not one of those games). Even the 'bad' ones (SW Force Commander, SW Supremacy) weren't that bad though.
KOTOR is best, then KOTOR 2. People will tell you TIE Fighter was the best SW space combat game - and it was great - but those people are still wrong. X-Wing Alliance was better.
If you remake the poll don't forget the Jedi Knight/Dark forces games, the Rebel Assault games, the original arcade game, and my multiplayer favorite X-wing vs. Tie fighter. Feel free to "accidentally" forget pod racer.
" You missed quite a few awesome star wars games. Jedi Outcast? Republic Commando? Although I would have still picked KOTOR because its in my top 10 games of all time. "It's alright. People can throw out another game and I'll tally it up at the end of it all.
" @FixerofDeath: Did you like it? Most people I talked to thought it was meh. I thought it was OK. "
Its in my top 10 games. Its not neccessarily the best game I've played gameplay wise, but it has some of the best characters and character interaction I've ever seen in a video game. It also spawned a whole book series which is great.
Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight.
Those live-action cutscenes are dope, and basicly what made me the person I am today.
KOTOR is the right answer, but personally i chose Rogue Squadron 2. battle of endor...shit was nuts!
why do people like republic commando so much? i mean, i enjoyed it, but the very core mechanic bothered me so much. The shooting was horribly weak in that game. With a game based on shooting things, i'd expect the guns to feel more impactful like i'm actually kicking ass with them, not shooting needles and peas. and having a teen rating is not an excuse.
I do appreciate how the game tried to differentiate itself from being that star wars game with guns and no lightsabers, thanks to interesting art direction. But then the story lacked conclusion and cohesion, and for a first game in the franchise, the "cliff-hanger" really was unforgiving.
