Many Thanks to GB User B0nd07 for the Banner!
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Community Spotlight! The big announcement for this week is that Patrick got married! Anyways best wishes to Patrick and his fiancee. If you haven't done so already wish him your best wishes over here. A GB user has uncovered footage of a 16 year old Jeff Gerstmann from CES 1992. Matthew Rorie wrote a blog the size of an article about his thoughts and experiences with Alan Wake. Finally in a bit of sad news, friend of the site Greg Miller of IGN fame has been diagnosed with cancer. If you can wish him a safe surgery and speedy recovery over here. With that let's start the Spotlight off with this nightmare inducing livestream clip:

Wonderful Wikis

It has been a slow week for the wiki seeing how it's the Summer Game Drought and all...despite this the wiki page for The Political machine 2012 has come along nicely after being set up as a Wiki Task. The wiki page for The Sword of Hope II improved leaps and bounds this week and the Defenestration (aka "Throwing Dudes out of Windows") concept page has plenty of examples on it now.

Best of Blogs

Nostalgia was the odd theme for blogs this week as Hunter5024 has written a massive blog about going back to Final Fantasy V while buzz_clik wrote a significant love letter to Impossible Mission. Hasmt3r made an awesome remix of a track from Rise of the Triad and Sparky_Buzzsaw disappoitingly details what it was like going back to the first Quest for Glory game. Marino continues to talk about his crazy adventures with EverQuest back in the day this time explaining why one should not sleep in "The Hole," whereas TrashMustache detailed why HD Collections and other games exploiting nostalgia depress him. MisterBananaFoam continues to break down his effort to re-experience Dinkey Kong 64 while MajorMitch explains why Dark Souls is the "hardcore" spiritual successor of Zelda and not Darksiders. Video_Game_King went through Call of Duty: Black Ops and Cho Aniki thanks to his manliness. Vinny_Says compares how his expectations for this gaming year back i January compare to how things came out in reality. Continuing is trend of examining problems associated with writing about video games thatpinguino such as getting through side quests and detailing game mechanics. Fattony12000 gives you a monthly update as well as Ahmadmetallic and Sackmanjones. Gamer_152 defends the creation of GaymerCon and ahoodedfigure lists his final thoughts on The Old Republic now that it has officially gone free to play. Lies explains why he feels Alpha Protocol has a better sense of scale than the Mass Effect games whereas Dalai elaborates upon why his enjoyment of Xenoblade Chronicles does change his view on the state of JRPGs and online petitions. Finally jakob_187 blogs about why paying $10 to join the closed beta for Path of Exile is worth it and Alaska_Gamer relates why the downloadable titles Malicious and Dyad are worth it.

Fantastic Forums

GB user Fattony12000 has created a a properly titled waiting and comment room for TNTs on the site. Now that Persona 4 Arena is out if you plan on discussing anything story related to the game check out the spoiler discussion thread. Finally GB user BaconGames has created a screengrab posting thread for any insanity you capture during livestreams that you'd like to share with the rest of the community.

Lovable Lists

GB user Hunter5024 has created a video game bucket list after a friend of his passed away. Mento continues his tradition of creating lists heavily reliant on bad puns with a list inspired by Pokemon Conquest. Finally GB user Brackynews has created a slew of lists this week. One listing games that were released broken (which if you can think of more examples help him out!), another listing  video game characters that doodle in their games, and finally a list of video game box art that is so bad it's good.

You mean Darksiders, right? Or were there more hookshots in The Darkness than I care to remember?

Also, sure, let's go with that.

Looks like an especially good week of content despite the lack of games themselves. I'll be sure to check some of these out over the weekend.

I recall having an internal monologue with myself if the game was "The Darkness" or "Darksiders," and sided with the first because I was convinced MajorMitch was talking about a game with "the" in the title.

Much obliged for featuring my Tales of Xillia review. You're always good about catching wind of my content even when I otherwise can't be bothered to bug you about it, so hat off to you!

I've never played The Darkness, if it has hookshots and boomerangs I might have to investigate :P

I totally remember that livestream, though I couldn't tell you what it was originally supposed to be about, but I do remember that drunken nonsense and Star Trek talk. Man. I really miss Rorie.

Congrats everyone and I'm loving the spotlight page!

Edit:

Usually, Foxx posts an AMV for the community spotlight, so I post this GMV just for the hell of it. It makes me want to play the game.

I've poured enough work into the Labrys page over the past week that I'd like to recommend it for inclusion.

I did some major work on the Armored Core page. I am not completely done with it, but a large amount of it is done that I feel it could be featured in the next spotlight. In fact, it might be all the way done during the time between this post and the next spotlight.

http://www.giantbomb.com/armored-core/61-16656/

Edit: Now I can walk away saying it is done. Crazy that all that work nearly got me 10,000 points. Not sure if it's insane that I got less than 10K in general or that I got that much for a game like Armored Core. Oh well.

Here's the Fire Emblem Community blog, so you can link and refer this blog whenever you see us going ballistic in the FE wiki pages.

Thank you.

Edit:

I wish I can link to all 14 Fire Emblem games for the blog.

Just wrote one about Sleeping Dogs. On my home so I can't link it... Sorry about that
