We all have them, don't lie. What game did you play so much during your schooling period that you just destroyed your life on? Mine have probably been Civ 4 or Diablo 2. Goddamn that 900 clicks per minute dungeon sprawler!

I'm excited to see if Claude replies...

CS: Source. At lunch we'd all go to the LAN cafe that was right beside the school and just waste our lunchtime playing Source.

#6 Posted by Bellum (2944 posts) -

Morrowind and Rome: Total War.

@Cube: damn that sounds pretty sweet...
#8 Posted by Breadfan (6590 posts) -

Definitely Diablo II.

#9 Posted by Cube (4366 posts) -
@jadeskye:  Yeah, some people got into it to the point where they were skipping classes just to play. Ironically I was the only one who kept playing after school ended and I've not stopped yet.

Star Ocean: The Second Story took over my life for a while. It was the first RPG (and my favorite to this day) that I had ever played and i was obsessed with it.  I just couldn't get enough and there was so much in that game. Man I wish I hadn't lost my copy.

#13 Posted by kennybaese (683 posts) -

Hm... Well recently there were games like Uncharted and Bioshock 2.

In general... Maybe Rock Band? Or Super Smash Bros. On the 64. Yeah, we kicked it old school.

CS 1.6, never did homework after me and my buddies started playing this.

Counter Strike 1.6, Starcraft, C&C: Red Alert 2, and Diablo II. Almost failed 5th grade because of these games. Yup, good times, good times.

I was in 4th grade when Pokémon first hit state side. Talk about being at ground zero.

#18 Posted by Hamst3r (4564 posts) -

None. I don't get addicted to games and play them endlessly. The games I played the most during high school though were Quake 2, Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament.

Civ 2 definitely caused me to oversleep back in high school.

Not so much with school, but I give work the middle finger at least once every 4-5 months and take a nice 3 day weekend.

#22 Posted by Video_Game_King (36272 posts) -

None. In fact, video games teach me things, like Japanese, sword-fighting, and that George Bernard Shaw somehow equals Dick Cheney.

Eh fine ... WOW
I got way too much into it during my later Uni years and it fucked up my BIT degree. But I really can't blame the game only myself.
On the other hand I have now a job I'm satisfied with much more then what I think I would have been able to get if I stayed on the IT track.
I played it from time to time afterward still but just casually, and not for a long time now. Don't really regret it, was a good ride while it lasted.

Saying the 64 was old school makes me feel old.

Red Alert and Diablo ruined part of Elementary for me.
Middle School was filled with Starcraft and Diablo 2
High School was taken over by the Xbox 360...... more starcraft.
1st Year of College: Starcraft and COD4

I'm waiting to go to basic for the Air Force, but Starcraft 2 is on the horizon I'm afraid my Korean ass will be in a heap of trouble.

Quake3, played it so much it may have affected me dropping one educational level.

Metal gear solid 2 ruined me

My mind never recovered

This is going to show my age, but the original Doom, Doom 2 and Warcraft 2 all consumed my time in Middle School.

Hmmm... Good question.

Bard's tale, probably. Match of the Day II is right up there, too.

Move along now, children. Grandpa must have his tubes changed, and all his bags are full.

No game ruined my education. I guess I'm not hardcore enough to be a part of the gang. :<

#38 Posted by wefwefasdf (6729 posts) -

In 7th grade there were a bunch of people playing WoW on another forum I went to. Once I got started with them it was very hard to stop. Being homeschooled didn't make the matter better either. :p

Final Fantasy VII, Ocarina of Time, and Metal Gear Solid began my spiral into a failed education... Then the PS2 came along...

Seconded.

Also, Warcraft 3. Though Age of Empires 2 actually HELPED me in school, so I would hesitate to say my gaming addiction hurt my education overall. I'm pretty good at controlling myself.

@Fallen189:

Match of the Day II doesn't cut it?

I had an Amstrad then.

Yes, it actually was a computer. It did have an unfortunate tendency to leak oil, on occasion.

Street Fighter 4. It's ruining it right now.

All of them.  Honest!

Well right now Dragon Age.  I've stopped doing homework almost entirely.
