Coleco Vision
The oldest/first console you've ever played?
my 1st systems were the original gameboy and the sega genesis. i remember it like it was yesterday, playin true lies on my sega and the best and highly favored mortal combat. good times ppl
PlayStation.
Now known as the PrayStayshun (riff on the commercials). But I digress...
'Twas a wonderful console, and the reason for my current alignment with Sony (and no means to "defect" in sight ;) ). First played a video game on it when I was four...the game was either this one Rugrats game, or PacMan (how fitting, if it were...either way it's fitting, but still) on this Namco Anniversary Collection game thing. I wanna say twenty years, but I could be wrong, and probaby/highly possibly am. But yep. Pretty sure it was PacMan, but it could have been Rugrats...yeah maybe. My dad bought both of those games at the same time when he bought the PS, so it's a tad fuzzy... Either way, I had a wonderful experience, and both games were/are amazing. Granted I haven't touched the Rugrats one in years, but at the time of course it was great. Heh, I am sure I could pick it up today and still enjoy it.
Ahh...that started it all...what beautiful memories. :_ ) Eleven-ish years ago...wonderful. T-T Okay, I'm done. :D
" NES was first i played with my cousins, SNES was the first one i owned. Man i remember rage quitting all the time when i was a little kid now that i think back. "Games were harder back then. When a "big" game had 8 levels you had to be. ;)
What I can remember, it was the Genesis that or the Game Gear. Wow... why does that seem so long ago?
NES. I remember being in the store and getting it and I was only 2 or 3. It was my parent's who are extremely casual gamers. Shit it may even be my earliest memory haha!
@Spike94: I may be the first person who mentioned the Rugrats game on the 'net in years. As far as I know, nobody else has played it but me. Still have my copy somewhere actually.
Wow, the giant bomb community is a lot younger than i thought.
The first console I ever played was the NES, but the oldest console I've ever played around with was a Texas Instrument TI-99/4A. Apparently it's classified as a cartridge based "home computer" but i only played games on it.
If you don't mind me asking, how are old are you? I'm 19 (I'll be hitting that awful 20 in the near future though).
I just can't believe that people are saying that the N64 or the Playstation was their first console, not that thats a bad thing. I still have the N64 hooked up so i play some Starfox 64 or F-Zero X whenever i want.
Just thought I'd upload a pic of the C64. Oh man, I'll never forget those F keys.
Comodore 64, imported from Russia or Germany. Still works, and I still have a bunch of tapes for it.
That was the first, but the oldest I played was a ZX Spectrum back in grade school at a friends house. And you though the C64 had rubbish loading times, you've seen nothing...
PS: I'm 22. Note that the Polish console market was lagin badly behind back then, what with the ex-soviet block thing and all. C64 where a bit popular, then came the Amiga. We didn't even have a NES and SNES. We'll we had a NES ripoff called the Pegasus and stayed all the way into PlayStation and Saturn days, and I think those where the first consoles to be OFFICIALLY released in Poland. The Pegasus became popular by storm, the guys that made that thing where probably rich. Heck, it even had commercials in TV and on VHS tapes with children's cartoons. If only they new it was a ripoff...
Pong
Atari 2600 and Atari 5200
no idea how I old I was, probably 5 or so.
Got a genesis at like age 8.
NES for me. I've actually bought another one recently off of Craigslist. It's brand new, never been opened.
Someone gave us a Commodore 64 once, and some games, but it never actually worked. Pretty sure most of the games she gave us were educational though... she was a teacher.
We've always had some gaming PC's around the house though, so it was probably that. But my first actual console was the Panasonic 3DO. :)
Mostly played stuff like Total Eclipse, Off-world Interceptor, Star Control II, Cannon Fodder and Wolfenstein 3D which was probably the best PC port at the time.
I'm not terribly surprised to see a lot of NES responses. My first and oldest is the Mattel Intellivision. I'm 26.
