Anyone remembers the video we got that quote from?

#2 Posted by Video_Game_King (36272 posts) -

I remember it was Gary Whitta, but that's pretty much it.

#3 Posted by familyphotoshoot (654 posts) -

Probably the Black Ops TNT

#4 Posted by TheOtherSuperMarioBro (60 posts) -

"Shoot That Guy" goes back to time immemorial, before days, months, or even years were measured.

A "Pro Tip" of Gary Whitta in one of the Team Fortress 2 TNTs if my memory doesn't trick me...

#6 Posted by wjb (1666 posts) -

I thought it was when they were playing Battlefield. So fuzzy.

What?

#8 Posted by Animasta (14698 posts) -

Gary Whitta + FPS, whatever it was.

#9 Edited by Zaccheus (1795 posts) -

Yeah I can't remember if it was TF2, COD:BLOPS or BF2. Whichever was first.

#10 Posted by Spuirrel (86 posts) -

Medal of Honour or Black Ops TNT.

This. It was Whitta on one of the TF2 TNTs.

#13 Posted by Ares42 (2691 posts) -

I'm fairly sure it was a CoD game, and doubt it was TF2 as I seem to remember Jeff was playing.

#14 Edited by Village_Guy (2598 posts) -

Yeah, I think it was the Black Ops TNT, the same one where they were talking about a penis spitting flames, and Jeff running into the napalm airstrike after making it very clear that you shouldn't run into it...

EDIT: No clip of "shoot that guy", but I'm pretty sure that it was the Black Ops TNT.

When did they play BF2? Why wasn't I informed?
#16 Edited by Peanut (954 posts) -

No, it was a TF2 TNT. I can't remember if it was one where it was the Thursday Night Tested TF2 or the one with Ryan that had Gary, Norm and Will on the couch, but it was one of them. I think Will was doing shit and suddenly went on a streak when Gary started to "coach" him.

I think he meant BFBC2

Ryan wants a cock that shoots bacon. Man, lmao.

#19 Posted by Levius (1143 posts) -

I'm pretty sure it was the Medal of Honour TNT.

#20 Posted by Lukin (26 posts) -

I'm pretty sure it was the CODBLOPS one that it started on and then it would come up on every TNT Gary was on after that. I'm sure of this as I never watched the TF2 TNT's or many of the other FPS TNT's for that matter.

#21 Edited by MiniPato (2741 posts) -

It was Need for Speed TNT in which he said "Get em!" when Ryan was a cop car trying to take down a street racer. Everyone laughed at Gary's common sense non-advice.

#22 Edited by Death_Burnout (3797 posts) -

Such amateurs. It was Medal of Honour!

...Orrr TF2, whatever. Don't care. It will always be MoH to me.

#23 Posted by andriv (256 posts) -

Garry Whitta was sexy back then

#25 Posted by eccentrix (1569 posts) -

I always thought it was Battlefield. That's funny, though.

#26 Posted by vogon (96 posts) -

while we're at it, can someone get to the bottom of "use more skill?"

I remember it being an after-death tip in some game that got streamed, but I don't remember which one.

#27 Posted by Rafaelfc (1350 posts) -

I believe it was in the Medal of Honor TNT in 2010 (if not the first it is one of the very early Gary Whitta appearances)

#28 Posted by XavierD (9 posts) -

The internet is weird.

#29 Posted by Death_Burnout (3797 posts) -

Ok no, I checked the dates, It was MoH. My comment still stands!

Gary Whitta, BFBC2 TNT

I remember it being talked about some on the Crysis2 TNT.

It was the TF2 TNT with the tested guys. Gary Whitta started it. Get your facts checked people.

#35 Posted by Solidsnak (135 posts) -

gonna have to agree with the tf2 tnt sentiment since I remember Will be annoyed by it.

#36 Posted by myketuna (1710 posts) -

All I remember is it was the TF2 TNT where Will stormed a castle of some kind. That's the first time I heard it.

Makes a very good case that it was TF2 TNT

Yeah, kinda. But he never sais exactly "shoot that guy" in that video, mostly variations of "kill that soldier" and so on, from what I heard. Maybe there really is a better example of it?

#38 Posted by Dagbiker (6977 posts) -

It is a call back to Garry Whita's guide for Doom or Doom 2 when his advice for the boss was "To defeat the Cyberdemon, shoot at it until it dies."

#39 Posted by Nightriff (5096 posts) -

@Loafsmooch: He does say it, he says variations also but this is probably the first time that it comes up and it eventually turns into "Shoot that Guy" as common sense advice from Gary.

#40 Posted by Loafsmooch (350 posts) -

@Nightriff: Oh sorry, must've missed it.

I'm positive that it was during a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 TNT.

#43 Posted by FluxWaveZ (19355 posts) -

Definitely the first Thursday Night Tested featuring Team Fortress 2.

This definitely is one, but it's not THE one.
The main one everyone remembers is specific because Gary is berated for how vague his advice was, it also coined the phase 'use more skill', and they continue to call back to it through out the rest of the TNT after the fact.
I'm almost positive it's the Black Ops TNT and I'll rewatch it to make sure
#47 Posted by MiniPato (2741 posts) -

I swear to god it's the Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit TNT in which Gary says "Get him!" and Ryan points out how helpful his expert advice is. Suspiciously the Twitchtv and JustinTV pages don't load for me. Coincidence? Or is someone trying to change the history books?!

#48 Posted by DoctorWelch (2774 posts) -

I also really like the whole "Use more skill" thing, and I'm pretty sure that came from the chat.

#49 Posted by ComradeKhan (687 posts) -

Medal of Honor, Battlefield, Call of Duty, TF2

#50 Edited by LTSmash (630 posts) -

This is ridiculous. The phrase "shoot that guy" was created during the Medal of Honor TNT on October 7, 2010. The phrase references Gary's advice to Jeff, but the exact wording, "shoot that guy", was uttered by Ryan.
